I'm looking to buy a driver on quite a low budget, below £75 really. I was just wondering if you guys had any reccomendations? A general budget brand or older drivers that have served you well!

Thanks in advance.

You can get some half decent used clubs for that sort of price range, noted if you want a new club the new Dunlop nz9 has been getting decent reviews.

Sam.

If you can stretch to £85 I have an excellent/mint conditioned 11.5 degree Nike VR STR8 fit driver with a regular Voodoo shaft. It's surprisingly forgiving for a top of the range driver and has full face adjustability.

I dare say other forum members will have clubs they don't use and my advice would be to look for a second hand premium brand model, 1-3 years old.

I'm about to do a bit of a re-shuffle with heads and shafts and would have a couple od spare heads.

But looked on Ebay and found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-Cobra-L4V-F-10-Deg-Reg-Shaft-/130678639483?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Golf_GolfClubs_JN&hash=item1e6d0dcb7b#ht_500wt_1156

which is same but higher loft of one of the heads I'd end up with (the other is a 7.5!).

Very forgiving head, if you can get over the sound - I actually acquired it from a guy whose club had banned Cobras, Nikes and FTIs from their range because they were disturbing the neighbours!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll check out what you've reccomended and definitely have a look at the 'For Sale' section of the forum.

Dave, unfortunately I can't stretch to £85, but thanks anyway!

My Dad's been trying to justify buying himself a new driver for a while now, so I could always wait that out and get a free gift! ;)

I've an all-but-new Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 9.5 degree stiff (it isn't really) Habanero shaft that you can have for £75. Hit approx 12 tee shots and went back to the FT Tour as I favour the Voodoo shaft

I did a test a few weeks back for another golf publication, and the Dunlop nz9 was in my top ten clubs! Good distance, very good accuracy and forgiveness! Some people may turn their nose up at a non premium club, but it was honestly a cracking bit of kit!! Pound for pound, it was the best club! If you compare a 330 quid r11s to a what 70 Dunlop?, the Dunlop was maybe 20-30 yards shorter but with excellent accuracy! Really worth considering!

That looks like a real bargain....and difficult to beat.

I would go for a second hand premium brand if you know what you like/want. G10 would be my advice and they should be going for around £70 for a good second hand one.

Look on eBay for Nike sumo drivers, great clubs. Alternatively look on sports HQ for palm springs gear, I picked up a driver for £11 new and tbh...its not detrimental to my game at all. Just wanted a stiffer shaft and it goe 20-30 further than my playing partners
