Cheap 2 nighter cumbria/southwest Scotland ideas

Hello all.

Im looking at what the title suggests really, for between 8-12 of us. Ideally sun/mon/tue. Simple and basic being the operative words. The trip being more a lads knees up than a golfing experience.

Golf wise, munis or lower end private courses

Accomadation wise, A dormy house or the upstairs of a pub would be great

Ayr would be a better place to stay, loads more going on and plenty of B&B’s.

North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer do some good golf deals. Been there myself and thought it good value.

Stay in dumfires at any old B&B. Tons of courses you can get to from there plus it's an ok night out.

Ayr is a good shout as you have all the municipal courses.....Belleisle, Lochgreen, Darley which are all cheap.

I'll second that, all 3 course are great value for money.

Just booked cardrona in july 1 night, 2 rounds £149pp. (that's sat and sun though - so mid week would be cheaper)

We've not been for about 10 years , it was an impressive hotel. But it's like stepping back in time.
All the waitresses standing in line, dressed in black with white hats and white bib aprons , while the pianist plays all the tunes from the war era.
Food was excellent. silver service, brilliant white linen and lace table covers.
Be very careful at breakfast cutting into your enormous fried beef tomatoes, the wife was embarrassed when her tomato exploded and splashed all over the table cover.:rofl:
