I hadn't really thought about this in relation to my golf swing - it's more of an intuitive thing. But for Christmas we got the Wii Fit Plus game. One of the additional routines is a golf driving range. You stand on the balance board and swing, aiming your 20 balls at the flag. You can analyse each swing, and the analysis shows you where your centre of gravity and weight transfer went during the swing. It's quite realistic, as my ball has a left to right movement and my son's the other way, just as in real life. The idea is that your centre of gravity should move away from the target in a straight line as you rotate on the backswing (not sway), then forwards in a straight line towards the target on the downswing. My COG consistently goes towards my toes and curves forward smoothly back to centre. And my son's does exactly the opposite. Not sure what it means, and now I'm worried I'll be over analysing something else when I get a club back in my hand!

Anybody else tried this? Thoughts?

:D

Golfers who tend to slice, shift their weight onto the heal of their back foot and then onto the heal of the front foot in the through swing.
If you have this problem a good drill is to practice hitting short and mid irons with your left heal off the ground (right handers)
If you're practicing this on grass, try and take a few divots and see if they are pointing straighter than your normal swing.

On the vid of my swing I looked at the other day, the guy commented that I tend to have my weight more towards my heels than my toes at set up.

Would it be fair to say, then, that setting up with the weight too much towards the heels is generally not a good thing ? IE should I/we concentrate moe on getting the weight further forward onto the balls of the feet, or even the toes ?

Cheers

Do you still have the video of your swing?
If so, can you upload it onto youtube and post the link?

No

He just videod me when I was hitting a bucket of balls, then did the freebie analysis.

Good way to get new business, I thought.

I'd be interested to see someone doing Stack and Tilt on one of those Wii Fit things and see if they actually transfer any weight backwards,,, especially as the arms weigh about 30lbs and are heading in that direction :D

Hmm. Bonkers. All of it. If my game is so bad I get influenced by a computer game, count me out.

I tried Wii ( ? ) golf a couple of months ago on a giant screen at our works company do.

I played two holes and then went to the bar.

Now I like a pint, but try dragging me off the 3rd of a real course just for a shot of booze.

It just aint gonna happen.

I was playing with this on Sunday and I found that I couldn't take my stance properly as the board was too narrow. This put me off balance and caused a slice (which, I admit, I do have with a driver in my hands).

I was also p*ssed out of my head and still knocking the ball 250 yards.

When I added these two factors together I came to the conclusion that it was cobblers.
