Celebrity Visits to the Troops in Afghanistan

The BBC is reporting on its web site that the government has spent a considerable amount of money sending celebrities on moral boosting trips to Afghanistan. I don't have an issue with the sum of money as the guys deserve every lift they can get.

An odd mix of names there though;

Cheryl Cole - superb idea , file away those mental images for when you've got your basher/ trench to yourself for a few minutes.

It makes sense, he was ex forces - tank commander I think. Cant see the troops going for the 'beautiful' number though..

Speaking from experience, I don't think he would have made my day turning up - ex Squaddy or not.
Just in case he was there for the benefit of our servicewomen I checked with HID and she can confirm he wouldn't have been top of her list either.

Our own Club Pro Parnell went as well and took the Ryder Cup to show the lads.
They did expect to play the most dangerous course but had to make do with playing with some guns.
