Carroll to West Ham...

He is a striker Bill and his job is to score goals, he wastes so many chances its quite laughable and yet the Liverpool fans think hes the greatest thing since sliced bread....

If Carroll had half as many chances as him he would have scored twice as many goals as him.

Very true & i agree with what you are saying , he does miss alot & waste some chances , its just i personaly have never bought into the goals per shots ratio mate , id rather a guy had 20 shots per game & scores 4 (25%) than a guy have 1 and score 1 (100%) .. goals win games,

but il give ya this , against West Brom in the 1st game of the season pool could/should have had that won, if only Suarez had taken half or quarter of his chances ... Pains me to say it but i like the guy AS A PLAYER (before the evra thing pops up again) ..

Well seems at least one of the donkeys has left the Liverpool stable.

Charlie Adam has signed for Stoke................. Marvellous <SIGH>

The crazy thing about that statement, is if this was this time last year when liverpool signed him, you would have loved him to come to stoke! he was on everyones hit list after a fantastic season with Blackpool.. his game just didnt fit with however liverpool try and play these days... i do think he will fit in well and play well at stoke though, a good signing IMHO.

Berbatov to Fulham, does that open up the Dempsey to anfield saga?? I hope we get him, and Sturridge on loan and a sneaky walcott at the last minute!!

In my opinion one of the main reasons Liverpool have fallen from grace is exactly the comments made in this thread....terrible buying and selling of players. I could name a list of players longer than Dion Dublins wedding tackle on whom we lost loads of money on or who we sold at far lower than we should have. Started with Rafa and Kenny and Comolli were the icing on the cake.

The season Liverpool came second to United we spent more than anyone else in the premiership and yet it all went down the tubes with poor purchases. Sure, not every manager can be Arsene with his profit making on nurturing and selling players, but even Fergie has only made 1 or 2 howlers. We made loads of bad deals for 3 seasons in a row, cant get away with that.

On the topic of Carrol it was a good move by West Ham and Liverpool and I totally agree, Liverpool need a finisher. Not Sturridge, he is good, but not a finisher. We need a Defoe or a Bent....someone to bang in 20 for the season

Scandalous decision to let caroll go on loan, this is definitely a financial decision.

I don't think he's good enough to start every week but he's a decent squad player.

One thing it has proved to the yanks is, data doesn't matter when buying players and they were big advocates of using this method to buy players. Comolli and dalglish have paid the price for buying these players but don't forget about the rubbish Roy Hodgson bought.

As bladeplayer says, the shots to goal ratio matters not a jot.

R.E. Andy cole

Loads of footy fans used to say the same about him at Man U - needs 10 chances to score 2 goals etc. I used to always say, if he finishes every season with 30+ goals, what does it matter. Still a prolific scorer, no matter what.

On field, Suarez is a gem to watch, less the diving. Whenever he gets the ball there is a buzz and he keeps me on the edge of my seat. Agreed, he misses a lot and the easier ones, tends to score the very difficult (great) goals. Assists he is great on, also. He also fits our evolving style of play and is not a square peg in a round hole.

R.E. Gary Lineker at Everton

Everton 1984-85 (pre-lineker) won the league, European cup winners cup, FA cup finalists.

Everton 1985-86 with LIneker scoring over 40 goals - won nothing

Everton 1986-87 without lineker - won the league.

Think Liverpool are not at the races in this window. They lost out on Dempsey when they got caught tapping him up and Demnpsey is now a Spurs player. I can't see where the Liverpool goals come from. Lots of business around the league and hope Berbatov can find a new lease of life at Fulham. Think Jim White will spontaneously combust on SSN soon he's getting that excited
