Well i awoke this morning to discover my brand new company car i've had for 2 nights has been given the once over with some little w*nkers keys.

The whole of the passenger side has been done, and the bonnet too. Absolutely livid, our own car has sat in the street safe as houses for 2 years, along with the neighbours.

Should i be reporting this to the police? I know there's not much they can do.

Looks like it's gonna cost a small fortune to get repaired-am i better just leaving it until i get a new car in case it happens again? my company will foot the bill anyway, but just wondering what to do.

I really hate it when bastards do this. I've had it done to me before and I was fecking livid, company car or not.
I'd report it to the Police. They may have caught somebody doing a few of them during the course of their patrols. I had my rear window popped a few weeks ago, wasn't going to bother reporting it but it turned out the local police had caught three people that night doing it to about a dozen or so cars so had caught the little scumbags responsible.
It's always a risk getting it repaired in case, as you say, the little scrote(s) decide to come back and give it another seeing too.
Cover yourself though, and report it to your company first thing in the morning.

Thanks Smiffy, there'll be no problem with work, just furious at the pointlessness of it all. It's a bit of a mess but worse things could happen. It's right through to the metal. We never get anything like that round here, it's a close knit wee place i live so i'll ask round the neighbours. Chances are someone will know who's done it.

Cheers

I would report it just to get a crime report number (What would the real crime levels be if we all reported such crimes) and let your company decide whether or not it should be fixed. My compnay car is leased and we have to let them know about the slightest thing that happens to the car.

By all means report it. Not too sure what'll happen if the police catch the barsteward responsible.

HID had her CD player nicked out of her car a few years ago. The thieving scum popped a hole in the door under the lock to et in. Ripped out the CD player leaving a nest of wiring hanging out.

She reported the incident to the police. Obviously no-one came round, but a week later the police telephoned to say they had caught the scrote who had nicked it.
"Marvellous!" says I. "What happens now? Will he be paying for the damage to the car and theft?"

"Unfortunately not, the insurance company will cover that"
The thieving ba$tard probably got a telling off and told not to break into cars again. By all accounts he'd screwed loads of cars recently nicking and selling what he could thieve to supply money to feed his smack habit!

Moral of the story, if you find the scum who did it, carry out your own justice. ;)

report it and then get it fixed- it will be very expensive if down to the metal, lighter marks can usually be done well with scratch X 2.0 and maybe some Tardis.

Once its fixed set up your camcorder discretely and let it run while you sleep, use LP mode and maybe you'll catch the buggers.

Some will say theres issues filming the street and yes its illegal but its worth it to catch them at it
