Car body work/pain recommendation

Mrs managed to scrape the car and then parked it on higher than normal kerb.. result got scruffed on the wheel arc as well as a bit of panel damage (both cosmetic). Any recommendation on national chains that repair such things. I called Halfords and Kwik fit and neither of them do it. Googled around and saw Chipsaway. Any experience with them?

Last time she did the exact same thing, took it to the Merc garage and the guys charged £800+ and took 3 days. My secondary concern of using a non-Merc dealer is if they will be able to match the perfect shade of grey
 
i would look at one of the mobile dent removal companies. chipsaway have a very good reputation IMHO.

I would be surprised if your local merc dealer didn't sub the work out anyway! not many main dealers handle bodywork these days as far as i am aware.
 
google , insurance approved bodyshops in surrey area ,should bring up a few options mate ..

Ya dont have to go through your insurance but the insurance aproved normaly garuntee their work & are better to deal with, but a bit dearer than jack down the lane

My son has just got out of the car body repair business... Used to work for large concern that was approved for all the major makes including Mercedes... Had a fairly steady income stream re-doing work originally done by franchised smart repair operators... His advice, when asked, was to use someone only by reccommendation [there are some good operators]... Try and avoid using the internet/yellow pages to find a repairer... Not saying you won't get 'lucky'...

That was actually useful... Ignoring results like Axa Shop insurance and The Body Shop (the cosmetic company), it actually came up with some useful ones incl one about 5 mins drive. So called him up and will go and check it out over the weeknd. has a list of approved insurance names on his website.

+1 but did not know anyone in the area who have used local bodyshop.. most going to the dealer garage..

My dealer has his own body shop (or so he tells me).... charges an arm and a leg for even touching the car... bloody could have just put a patch on their eye and kept a parrot on his shoulder..
 
i got a few prices for a ding on my sons car last year,ranged from£580 to £241,the strange thing was the cheapest one did the work for 3 of the others who quoted me more,he does all my jobs now and most of my mates.
 
Not sure where in Surrey you are, but cannot recommend St Georges Ltd highly enough. I am in no way associated with them, just had some work done there 6 weeks ago.

As already suggested, for minor scuffs and scrapes try Chipsaway or another 'Smart Repair' company. The results are good for a reasonable price. A neighbour managed to scrape the corner of my bumper a while back, I went to the dealer who then used a Smart Repair company to fix the damage for the princely sum of £70. All depends on the damage though...

Alloy wheel refurb costs vary be the extent of the damage but you can normally budget around £60-80 a corner.

I can't believe no one said anything about women drivers....:mmm:
