Looking at booking our summer camping holiday and after going to St Ives, Cornwall for 2 years we fancy a change and fancy exploring South Devon. Family of 4, 2 kids age 12 and 10, dog, so wanting a site that allows dogs, prefer the larger sites with plenty of space. Open to all areas as we'll be out and about exploring during the day, close enough to a beach would be good but not essential. Swimming pool optional, clubhouse/restaurant onsite would be good and needs electric pitches. Looking at end of July/beginning of August.

Only just starting looking properly but like the look of Cofton and River Dart.

Any help appreciated.

Does it have to be an actual campsite or are you happy on a caravan site? If so the Haven site at Devon Cliffs ticks all those boxes, and has plenty of decent golf courses in the area:whistle:

No caravan site is fine if tents are allowed.

The clubs will be definitely be left at home.

Not camped at Devon Cliffs but been there loads in the static caravans with Sun Holidays. Right on the beach and lots of facilities. If you have youngish kids then The World of Country Life is right next door. A few small animals and rides and you can take the goats for a walk if you want to.

Just looked at Devon Cliffs and dont think it allows tents unfortunately.

There's a place about 5 miles along the road from devon cliffs, can't remember the name but we stayed there last year (Sandy Bay maybe I'll check later)

Was quite a small place so quieter. That part of Devon is absolutely beautiful, I love it down there.

Edit, it's Ladram Bay

Just looking at it now, cheers. Looks goood. Will keep a note of it.

River Dart is the place I'd recommend. I've never camped, but had many day trips there when the kids were young. Devon Cliffs and Sandy Bay are a bit to commercial for my liking.
