Hi all,

Following on from the launches of the TaylorMade R1 and RBZ Stage 2 woods and Ping's G25 range, we now have Callaway's latest offering: the X hot driver, fairway wood and hybrid.

Click on the link above to see three first-look videos. We also have two galleries in the 'galleries-equipment' section of the website.

What do you think of the X Hot range? And, more importantly, Callaway, TaylorMade or Ping?!

I can see the old Big Bertha range in these but I'm not sure about the graphics at the back of the crown. Not overly intrusive - a bit like RBZ.

IN order of preference, for me, from these 3 new launches...

1. Ping
2. Callaway
4. TaylorMade...

I would agree. Always been a big fan of Ping gear and the G25 range only enhances this opinion. Not a TM hater at all, but the new RBZ and R1 range just looks....horrible.

I'm interested to see the new lineup of Ping TR putters too.

Having looked at the images of all the offerings, I'd say the Callaway is definitely a better looking club than the TM's but not a patch on the G25.

So i'd go.

1. Ping
2. Callaway
3. TM

But then I'd probably put a few other drivers ahead of the TM on looks like the Yonex E-Zone.

"The distance gains are for real. In testing with Staff Professional Alvaro Quiros, for example, he gained nearly 18 yards against the gamer in his bag."

Just, so happens, to be 1 yard longer than the TM' RBZ claimed improvement.

Wonder if Philly Mick will be wearing a cap with "18" on the front............. And 2 fingers on the back :smirk:

being honest, I don't like the look. A little too graphic-driven for me. But then again I like plain and simpe.

In the words of Mr Bannatyne..... I'm Oot

X Hot? Sounds like a classification of a curry to me. What's the next one going to be called, the Callaway Madras?

Quite a retro looking head with tones of the Big Bertha era definitely appeal to me, could do without the additional graphics at the back myself, but prefer the look of this to the Ping and the TM is just hideous, that said still prefer the look of the Titleist driver to any of these last 3 releases.

1. Titleist 913
2. Callaway
3. Ping
999. TM

And welcome to NBonfield :)

So many new products and they all look pretty good. I was thinking of Callaway irons as an upgrade and wonder if the X Hot irons will come in different formats including a smaller headed tour type version.

The driver and fairways have definite nods to the days of the BB and it is no bad thing

I've always been a big fan of Cally woods. Currently using HyperX driver and GBBII fairways.

I prefer clean lines (love the GBBII's for that reason) and also liked the short hosel which was a Cally trademark. They seem to be moving away from that look which I think is a shame. Was not a fan of the Razr Fit for that reason.

The XHot looks cleaner and might be more tempting. Would like to see a picture of what it looks like at address, that's how you see the club most of the time. The graphics on the sole are neither here nor there.

X Hot Pro is what you want to look at Homer - plenty of pics o.line and I think Tappers or.POH did a review a short.time back.

I like the looks of the Callaway and Ping drivers and would love to have a go withthe latest offerings of both. The TM driver looks terrible, something about it looks like it was designed by an 80s throwback with the orange and gray stripes on the crown. I have tried previous models of all makes with little success with the TMs giving me far too much back spin. I fared better with the Ping G20 I tried but struggled with slicing more than normal. I did have much more success with the Callaway Razr fit however but that might have a lot to do with it being on a Callaway demo day and the guy fitting it to me.

Personal opinion for the three is:

Callaway
Ping

TM (Tacky Marketing)
