I think thats a fitting first letter word to start my review of these clubs, driver especially.
I had a fitting at AG in New Malden a little over a week ago as the Callaway Tour truck was there for the day. I got to look inside too which was pretty cool, thousands of shafts there for them to play with.
Anyway, after the fitting we settled on the right driver for me, the RAZR Black in 11.5 degrees (this is biased by 1 degree to a draw) (the 10.5 for example wasnt, it was center set. I got further distance and FAR more accuracy with the 11.5 though).
So I picked the clubs up yesterday morning (Driver, 4 wood and 3 hybrid) and went straight into a match play match. Right from the off, they were exactly as I wanted. The driver is a sight to behold and actually works off the tee (by that, i mean it goes where you want it to go). After a few holes I found I was picking the driver up knowing I was going to be on the fairway, rather than hoping. Distance is great, further than my Wilson and the flight is great to watch. It makes a really satisfying noise off the face too, not too loud but a nice crack. Im not sure what else I can say about the driver, other than it looks awesome and if anyone is having problems with a slice or fade and looking to get a new driver, then this is it! Seriously, try it out, you will not be disappointed.
The 4 wood is a lovely looking club too and for me I'm getting as much distance, if not slightly more than with my Wilson 3 wood, but again, you feel confident it will be straight. Our 12th is a 244 yard par 3 and my nice steady swing saw me finish level with the pin about a foot to the right of the green, so I wont miss not having a 3 wood. Its got a nice low penetrating flight which seems to stay on line, so again a really good choice. Easy to hit off the deck too so will be great for long par 4's or par 5's.
The hybrid feels good in the hands and when you look down at it, it does have a solid look to it, and it may be slightly heavier than my wilson one too (not sure about that though). This was great too, right from the first shot, I just felt confident with it. Perhaps thats the main thing, I felt so confident with all 3 clubs that I wanted to use them more and more. They were the reason I went out again this morning despite not getting in until 2am having been drinking since 5 for the footy. I just wanted to get out there and hit the clubs again, I was like a kid in a sweet shop, massive Cheshire grin on my face!
So all in all, what a fantastic purchase. I am so happy I bough these, and they should last me a few years yet, so more than made up. I really feel they will help me to come down even further
