Hi all. Im interested in getting into caddying and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get into it. Im aware you can caddy at some local clubs but what about taking the next step. Does anyone have any suggestions or websites.
Also does anyone here caddy at a club in Berkshire or Surrey?
Thanks

I managed to caddy a couple of times on the aussie tour for some lesser known players quite a few years ago. If you're inexperienced it was either a case of who you know (I luckily worked at an exclusive club), or seeing where the tournaments were being held and contacting the course offering yourself as a caddy (quite a few of my mates did this). Virtually all of the caddy spots were for the unknown guys who came through qualifying, and they wanted someone to just carry their clubs - but as beggsy mentioned you really have to be a decent player. One of my friends caddied for Jean Louis Guepy for quite a few tournaments) If I was you and looking to do it for a career, I would start looking at local Pro-Am's/Euro Pro etc to get some experience. But then again I have no idea how it works over here!!

I got to caddy in a Challenge Tour event for a European Tour player who had lost his card for that year. It came about through working as a caddy at a club that hosted the event. It was a very good place to meet people and if it wasn't for the fact that I was planning to go the uni I would have tried to make a go of it. I would say this tour or the Ladies tour would be a good entry point but it's very much about getting to meet the players.
