Bloody hell fire !!
Now that’s a price hike. Doubled my energy bill in one fell swoop.
No hot tub for me this summer.

Oh and bought a 3ltr 4x4 yesterday, just in time for the £2 litre of diesel I reckon.

Putin, you’re a dick.

To be fair, the current price hikes are thanks to Brexit.

Ours went from £130 a couple of months ago to £160 last month to £220 for now.

The unit charges are in line with regulator maximums, but they nearly doubled the electricity daily charges. 24 to 40, or about there.

im currently on the variable just for gas, thinking long and hard what to do TBH

its 4p for sake of argument and will go to 7p in april, I could have fixed a few days ago for 8.7p for a year which would protect me from octobers rise, now its 9.69p, wonder what it will be come april

I was tempted to just fix it today but torn

I’ve been out all morning with my chainsaws and axe.
Hopefully keep the gas switched off until summer. Time now.
Come summer , the solar thermal takes over hot water duties anyway .
Hopefully get some money back from bulb after a while.

Even before Ukraine the head of Centrica was predicting prices to continue to rise for next 2 years. One of the results of a lot of countries going green and ditching coal leading to increased demand.

Yeah, we’re with Bulb and got the ‘good’ news yesterday. It’s the electricity standing charge that really gets me, 24.11p per day up to 41.66p. Awesome.

Apparently it equates to £13.33 per week increase for a standard user, whatever that means. Our present DD is £230 per month. Looking forward to seeing what we’re going up to come April.

With rises in every bill we have and price of food etc I think we’re going to be around £400 worse off a month come May.

Most surprising thing about this thread is the "shock"

They announced the price cap increase what 3rd Feb?

The information was out there for ages ...

The figures were released by Martin lewis' team the same day if not the day after

Do people not keep up with things that will affect their life?!

Maybe we have other stuff going on? My energy provider went tits up in feb. I’m on a BG flex rate. If it fix it’s a 30% increase. Keep up with that ***

Got the email from British Gas yesterday, my prices all going up, but standard variable still the cheapest. It’s not so much the price per unit, although their electric hike is steep, but the standing charge is where they’re really ripping us off, that rise is pure extortion.

If your provider went "tits up" you move to another one on the standard variable do you not? Which is the price cap

Nothing out there beats the price cap right now

The rise is all the same if you stay put on the price cap

Quick sign up to Martin's emails and it does 90% the work for people

My provider went tits up. British Gas picked me up. Octopus aren’t taking new customers on. I have a life, I gouged my eyes out…options?
