Got out of the shower this morning and got an excrutiating burning pain in the bottom of my back. Shovelled the ibuprofen tablets and stuck some gel on it but sitting at my desk in dire agony. Looks like golf at the weekend is a doubt.

Not sure what I've done other than it was a real sharp pain and just hurts (aches) constantly. Can't find a comfy position and walking isn't great.

Backs can be really dodgy. Best to keep it mobile if you can stand the discomfort. The problem with sitting (e.g.at a desk)for prolonged periods is that your back will stiffen up.

The good news is these things can come and go quite quickly as it may just be muscles going into spasm to protect from a potentially more serious injury.

Welcome to the bad back club! There are plenty members! :p

Hope you don't end up like I did having to kneel to pick the ball out of the hole or to put a tee peg in the ground :o

A mix of ibuprofen and paracetamol can work wonders.

As someone else said try and keep mobile.

I often find that when the missus has her knee in my back all night(usually for me snoring) I wake with a bad back!! get some stretches done and it's normally ok :)
Take it easy though, although you want to be mobile, you dont want to make it worse.

I can report that I've seen the wonderful Elaine and although it hurt to the point of tears I'm in a lot less pain. It's a good job I had a few brownie points earned with the physio manager. I've got the naproxyn sorted so I hope it'll sort itself out soon. Just worried about sleeping tonight and it stiffening up

i've got the sore neck thing happening at the moment too. lots of nurofen, stretching and heat bags and it's getting there. best thing though was going to the range last night and hitting 50 balls. the movement is good for it.

homer, hope you get better for the weekend and can you tell me the magic words you used to get the physio to work on you? my wife is a physio and can't be arsed fixing all of my aches and pains!!!
