I was out this morning, and whilst waitong for an appointment decided to check in here. Every time I logged onto teh lounge, and started to scroll down th elist of threads, the browser (Safari) would suddenly start trying to redirect and open a ton of AD sites. I had to shut the tab to get out of it and could not read anything on this site.

I tried other sites, and they were not affected. Whilst an old thread on Apple Support, this thread details exactly what I'm seeing, and suggestes that the issue is not the phone but a bad or infected adware server serving this site.

Anyone else having issues like this on an iphone?

I have seen a few weird redirects from this site sometimes. not lately though

Thank god. I thought I was going mad. I've had this over the last few days. Primarily use my phone to access this site.
No matter what scan I did (Mcafee, malwarebytes etc) it found nothing. I got paranoid so ended up restoring my phone to defaults, twice. Nightmare.
Have to say, I don't mind adverts but browser redirection is the lowest of the low and can cause mayhem for those that don't know what they're doing.

Just to add this will probably only happen when you're on data. If you're attached to wifi I assume it's firewalled. Depends how your wifi is setup.

I've just had this on an android phone over data. Hijacked twice, once telling me I had viruses on my phone and needed to install something. Have to close down the tab to get out of it. I hope this is not the GM forum as if so that is very worrying and utterly unprofessional from a corporate organization.

I had this yesterday.

I hit the link in an email alert for a reply to a topic I'm subscribed to, it went to it for a few seconds then I got diverted to a large Asda advert saying I'd won something but I didn't stay on it long enough to digest, just turned my phone off & on to be safe!

Not good GM?

I mentioned it a few times. either no one cares or they don't understand

Just happened again on my mobile using data when I was trying to look at the thread about browsers being hijacked. Oh the irony.

Still, on the plus side I am now aware that gearbest has a 70% sale and they are so sure I want to know this that no matter how many times I try and go back in my browser, it won't let me get back to the GM Forum. Which is nice.....

hi all
this is not an issue any of the GM guys have experienced and we cant replicate it now but I have asked the tech team to investigate

as I have said before we dont monitor the forum or this sub forum all the time - we simply dont have the manpower - so if theres an issue then do feel free to let a Mod know (they all have my phone/email so can escalate) or email me direct. My email address is on my signature and all our contact details are shown on the main contact us page...

I know certain people will never do that but rather use it as a chance to have a pop but for anyone else that wants to get an issue resolved that's your best course of action

That's what I had a few days ago. Apparently my android phone was severely infected from downloading adult material!!!!! Couldn't seem to get out of it at first and then a page came up about winning an iPhone by completing a survey. Eventually managed to close the tab.

I posted about it over a year ago...

I thought that's what the feedback forum was for.

I have had it three times this week but always only in my local Waitrose Coffee Shop when connected to their O2 supplied wi-fi and only when accessing the GM site on my iPhone 5S.

Those are the only circumstances - so does that mean (reading the early posts) that Waitrose's router is being hijacked?

I close the new ad tab that the hijack opens up and that's it for the remainder of the session. No more hassles. Should I be doing more (i.e. not using Waitrose connection) or is this more of an irritation than any security threat?
