In 1984 Olazabal beat Montgommerie in the final.
Sergio Garcia won in 1998 aged 18.

8 down after 17? Flipping hell, you wouldn't want to come back out for the second 18.

He won the 18th in the morning though....big mental boost.

You know what its like in your own golf.....you can have 17 holes of dross with your clubs already mentally listed on ebay or destined for a nearby lake, then you nail a drive down 18, wedge to 5ft and drain the putt and all is well with the world - you go home, you don't kick the dog and you are nice to the wife and you cant wait to get out on the course again!

NB: I do not condone abuse of animals or the mistreatment of women.

('Cause you know someone will take what I've written above in the wrong way!!) :D

British Amatuer?! Is that like the “British Open”

It’s “The Amateur Championship”

Just like it’s “The Open”

https://www.randa.org/Championships/TheAmateurChampionship

Thanks, but I and many of my golfing friends have always know it as the British Amateur.
This stops confusing it with the Scottish, Welsh and English Championships.
ie If an English guy wins the English Amateur Championship and someone says .........hey did you see that Bill Bloggs won the Amateur Championship.
