When I started playing last year I used a 9 hole Academy course at a club a few miles away to get some practice while I waited for my membership to be processed by my local club. The Academy course is par3 and par4 holes only with a total par of 60 for 18 holes, although it has a couple of notorious par 3's with 120 yard carries over water to small greens and one green that not only slopes sharply but has no level area for the hole making life very interesting. By the time my membership came through I was beating 50 for 9 holes but struggled to get below 100 for 18.
After a winter of lessons and practice and making around 100 on my club course I was near the Academy course yesterday for a meeting so took my clubs to make the most of it and see if I had improved.
Made 47 for the first time round so hoped if I could match it I might manage mid 90's.
39 for the second time round:whoo:for a 18 hole total of 86. I don't care if it is only an Academy course. I came off feeling I had played real golf and I have really improved.
Now to see if I can take it on to my club course:mmm:.
