Very windy, and occasional showers. Off the whites as per usual.

Medal round today. Left the driver in the bag and didn't use it at all. Did not lose a ball, which is unusual for me, and didn't have a single penalty shot. So far so good.

Putted for 44! Rubbish! Average is 40.

Stableford average is 22. Today was 31.

Average gross score is 108. Shot 101. Damn. So close to 100.

Maybe next time. So near and yet so far.

So thanks everyone for the advice. I'll keep at it.

Good effort Hapless, it'll come.

Did you say you are playing in the GM experiment? By the sounds of it we're not too different in the golfing ability ranks.... i generally play to my handicap of 27 but it can really go either way mate. Id say its mainly my chipping and putting that saves me.

If I was you, given the tricky conditions, you can be rightly pleased with your score especially as nearly 50% of that came on the green. My advice might be to focus on your putting and maybe get the pro to check your mechanics as there seems nothing wrong with the ball striking

Minty.

Yep. I'm at the 'experiment' on the 15th, and really looking forward to it.

Homer.

We have 3 greens that are on quite serious slopes, ie putt it past the hole and let it roll back into it. Not many folks get away with a 2 putt on them. 3 is good 4 is okay and 5 is just unlucky.

Incidently FIR was 21%, GIR was 11%. 1 net eagle, 2 net birdies, 10 net pars, 1 net bogey, 3 net double bogeys, 1 net triple bogey.

Putts was 1 for 1, 2 for 11, 3 for 4, and 2 disasters.

Thanks for the support guys.

I hear what you are saying re the putting. It was just the most obvious thing that popped out of the original post. Looking at your later post, the indication would be getting the approach shots on the dance floor more consistantly and maybe working on the chipping so that when you do miss you can save the odd shot here and there. All in all though it can only be a matter of time so keep with it (and if you want to document it I'll include it if I get my magazine idea off and running)

Keep at it Hapless!!

Won't be long and you can lose the Hacker part of your name!!

With the weather as it is be satisfied with your days work. Agree with Homer (as usual!!) concentrate on the chipping and putting. Get the ball closer to the hole to start with and your svores will tumble.

I know how ya feel, it took me till June to break the big 100, and then in aug i broke th 90 for the first time, twice in 2 rounds.

But my last 4 rounds have been 92,94 91,91 Arggggggggg so close, i know i made a few silly shots lack of concentration, but this time of year with the change in weather conditions and less ball run, i accept that my scores may be 6-8 shots higher.

But im not gona let that get me down as i want to extend my season as far as possible this year, which will pay off when the better weather returns, i hope,.

So good luck with breaking ya 100 it just around the corner.

Hi,

well done mate , almost there, the scores will soon start dropping even more.

If you fancy a round some day let me know , I am a member with crown as well, so it won't cost either of us anything.

I play off 24 and I am only just breaking 100 and that is not all the time.

Cheers

Midnight...

Hi Hacker I seem to be exactly where you're at.

I had a similar experience on saturday shooting a level 100 on my new course, including all drop shots and lost balls.

I 3 putted four greens and 4 putted one, grrrr thats 6 stupid dropped shots.
GIR was only achieved on 5 holes i.e 13 approach shots were off target. Thats a total of potentially 19 shots to save giving me a round of 81.

Simple when you put it like that. Good game this golf innit :)
