Don't normally post things like this but finally got things going again. Started the season on 5.2 with serious aspirations of getting to 4 at least. Putting was awful at the start, but everything else pretty solid. So all season I plugged away , played pretty well overall and never seemed to score. Handicap crept up to 5.9, highest it's been for a long, long time.
So
I thought I'd end the season on 6, but enjoyed being at my new club and settling in again. I took 2 weeks off, never even lifted my putter up and turned up for the medal last week expecting nothing but a good walk. Walked off with a 73, best score of the season and a 0.6 cut, the best part was I was slightly miffed as it should have been better. It's how I used to feel when I was good at this game, which is a good thing for me.
Today I rolled up for the stroke, again no expectations other than a good day out and found out half the greens had been cored. Found myself 1 under at the turn and feeling lie it was all coming back. Back 9 was really difficult with the wind and the cored greens , but I struggled home for a 75 and another 0.2 cut.
So 2 cuts back to back after a long hard season, finished tied first last week, beat on count back and tied 2 be this week, but will probably get beat on count back again.
Why does the form kick in in October ?
Anyway a very satisfying end to the season, I was getting a bit fed up with it midseason but it just shows what a bit of perseverance can do.
It really is the most frustrating hobby ever invented
