Borth & Ynyslas GC

It looks like I'm going to be able to treat myself to a few rounds here at Christmas, depending on the course being open. Does anybody know what this place is like during Winter (besides wet!)? Really can't wait for it!

It'll be my first test of links golf, so it'll be comedy if nothing else. Anybody going to be in the area fancy it? Thanks in advance for the advice.

It won't be too wet - it's a links course. If possible I would be choosing to play Aberdovey instead (20 mins drive away).

So there'll be no problem with course closure or anything? Quality. Happy to give Aberdovey a bash as well, got a few brownie points with HID so the clubs are allowed to come home with me. Cashback!

Played 3 rounds there at the start of July after a long spell of heavy rain, and there were some quite sizeable puddles in some places, but there wasn't too many and it only really affected me on one hole. Not much chance of it being closed as it was quite dry on most parts of the course. Lovely place to play though, hope you enjoy it!

I have played Borth many times as my mate's uncle had a static caravan at Aberdovey. It is a classic unfussy links with in some cases little difference between the fairways and greens. Although not particularly memorable it is a good test with a warm inviting feel about the clubhous.e.

Aberdovey however is different gravy. One of my all time favourite places to play, some cracking variation in the holes, a tough golf test depending on the wind and invariably great condition. If you are in the area playing 10 games, play 9 at Aberdovey and 1 at Borth

OOh, that's a downer. I like both. 9/1? I'd say if money is no object, then yes. For value and enjoyment, it's closer than that.

I've never played it out of season. I expect it'll be fiercely windy.

no downer on Borth and it is good value but I just love Aberdovey (great memories from college when a few days in the static caravan and student green fees was all we could afford)

Plus don't forget the submerged ancient forest visible at low tide!

Really is a great place for soil scientists, entomologists and botanists! (my job is a blend of all 3)

Fair play to you like, and with the the greatest respect and all that.... But I plan to drink beer, play comedy golf. Lose balls, buy balls, play golf and repeat said sequence for at least a fortnight haha!
