Have a listen to Antony and the johnsons - knocking on heavens door
Haunting.
Haunting.
Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen both fall into the category of brilliant songs writers who's material is performed better by others.
No one can sing them like the authors.
You're right, nobody can murder a Bob Dylan song like Bob Dylan can.
Another subject that as far as I'm concerned you talk rubbish on. But each to their own I guess, regardless of taste or the lack of.
Oh, I have fled the keyboard in tears in the face of your stinging onslaught. Didn't realise you were the sole arbiter of taste.
Personally I wouldn't walk to my local if Dylan was playing there tonight, even if it meant watching the mighty Eagles getting doshed by West Ham on MOTD,
That's how it should sound. Not that's slushy pop sound of the Byrds.Reflecting back to the early 1960's when Dylan appeared on the music scene, he brought a certain originality and change to the typical ballad songs that prevailed. I found his style exiting and different, it reflected the 'Protest' movement that was going on at this time, challenging the normal and bringing something the young could embrace.
His voice was not polished, his style a raw mix of folk and blues but I found it refreshing and different. When I look at the stuff spewed out of the homogenous Simon Cowl era of today, he stands head and shoulders above them.
In My Opinion of course
