Played in my first competition for 4 years yesterday alongside full_throttle,and thoroughly enjoyed myself,but i awoke this morning with a right forearm and left elbow,resembling John Merrick !!!!
Now i was well aware of the horseflies at my last club,as the course was in open countryside,bordered with fields containing horse's,cattle,sheep,etc,but i didn't expect to get eaten alive playing a course in the middle of a city,thats surrounded by housing estates !!!
I was hoping to play 9 holes this evening,but i can hardly bend my arm at the moment.Best get down to Boots and get some Piriton i guess.
Anybody else suffer with "bloodsuckers" when playing golf at this time of year ? :mad:
 
Try the Scottish midge mate, unbelievable that something so tiny can bite so hard; and they swarm in huge numbers!

I know exactly what ya mean,i'm a Scotsman myself,and remember camping at Arrochar as a kid and getting covered in bites.Only time you got any relief was when it was bright sunshine,or blowing a gale.
No wonder the Sassanachs accuse us of being miserable,its having to put up with the rain,the cold,and the midge's pmsl :D
 
Got a right biting last Monday evening at mine.
Just as dusk fell out came the midges, hordes of them. Finished off on the putting green and got talking with another member for an hour. They were biting my head, my neck, my arms, infact every bit of exposed skin.
Later the bites itched like mad. Had no creams or anything to soothe it, just scratched away!
I have arms like a heroin addict now, full of little scabs. At least the itching has subsided now though!

We don't accuse you of being miserable - you just are !

But we forgive you because of the little midges ;)

I know what you mean, about 8 weeks ago I made the mistake of wearing shorts when playing after work. I was fine till about 8pm then got eaten alive
