Blackberry

Got a built-in weather App, compass or gradient meter?

Hope not otherwise you can't use it in competition.

My only concern with using my phone on the course is the chance of bad weather ruining it.

ive mentioned before the R+A launched a rules app! interesting

which you can use if you don't have any Apps that contravene the rules like weather, gradient etc etc.
Having internet capability doesn't make your phone illegal - its what you have installed on it.

Not sure what it does but I will be able to more yardages to my adapted strokesaver.

Looks promising though as I cant afford a proper GPS but would love one so hopefully this will do the job.

I've just got the 'golf GPS' app installed on my blackberry. It shows you a overhead of each hole (google maps image) and gives you the yardage. There's no weather, compass, gradient tool e.t.c. so it should be fine. I can't wait to test it on the course.

Try www.bbgpsgolf.com it's a free app for the blackberry. I've used it for about a year or so. You will have to record your own course if it isn't listed, but it's not too hard to do, I've done a couple on there. No graphics, but an easy to use GPS system.
