Have a big birthday coming up and wanted to treat myself to a putter that i can then hold onto for the next 30 + years.

What should i go for?

I currently alternate between a Ping Anser a 2 Ball

Get a Yes! putter imo. Never putted with a Bettinardi but the Yes! kicks my Scottys A$$ in performance and feel.

A putter is so personal though that it would be absolutely crazy to get a putter without trying it out first. Before you decide just go to any American Golf or Nevada Bobs or whatever and try out as many putters as you can till you find one that you like that and gives you confidence.

There is no other way to get the right putter for you.

Had a similar dliemma last year. Had a windfall and wanted to treat myself. Choice was between another Odyssey or a Scotty. Decided on a Scotty. Went for Newport Studio Select 2.5 but California Coronado was mighty close. Why a Scotty?

It looked great and felt great.
It is a classic and I know it will keep its value (even though I'll never sell it).
I was able to get it from my pro.

I accept they are overpriced and I might putt just as well with somehing else but, hey that wasn't really the issue. I wanted to get something a bit special and I feel I've got it. Still yet to add it to the bag though. Just doing carpet putting till the greens get nice and smooooth

I do wonder about some of the limited edition head covers though. Seen them going for more than the putters. :D

When I first bought my "Yes Callie" three years ago I was
convinced it was the "putter" for me,I know my puttings bad,
so theres no excuses, but I will be buying a new one soon,
like the look of one or two, hopefully I'll find the right one..

The lure of the shiney is strong within you. ;)

are you collecting it and displaying or playing with it!

youre playing with it right?
So go and have a look at a load of putters and try a load & feel whats the best for you, and Pick something you can putt with (whether it be a bettinardi or scotty or yes etc), dont just pick something on a name alone

just because its a certain name or brand doent mean you can putt well with it

Why would you want to get rid of the original and best Ping Anser? If you must then get a Ping Anser Redwood, far better than a Scotty or a Betti. Scotty and Betti's are just Anser copies.

Sticking with my Anser 2 from the mid 80's. Vintage shape and still a lovely feeling off the face. Got to get the stroke working again but that will come with a bit of practice but it is there to stay now. I reckon an original Anser beats a Scotty or Bettinardi in terms of looks and feel but I guess it is subjective. However I think both brands are considerably over priced and there are better alternatives out there at better prices.

Thanks guys - whatever i buy it will certainly be to use - probably though more like a mistress than a wife, take it out and have some fun with it every now and again rather than living with it on an everyday basis!
