Best way to learn the rules

reading the rules out of context is pointless in my view.

write down any scenario you have been in, plus the ones you have seen and common ones that will probably come up and learn these rules.

Definatly the the way forward and I would start with Rule 28 Ball Unplayable as one of the rules you will come across the most and probably the most simple. But I have lost track how many times I have had to pull people up on it though. Picking up your ball and taking it clear of the bush, then taking 2 clubs length is not correct.

Thats why I like the pictorial rules quiz in GM. They deal with a "real" scenario which you have to translate into Rulespeak
