Mine are my 2 eagles:

1) 3 years ago at South Shields, on the 2nd I hit a nice 7 iron from around 140yds, that appeared to be on target. However the undulations of the green meant the 4 of us in the society couldn't see where it came to rest. After looking around the green, it was obviously to be found in the hole. :)

2) Last Friday after getting to bed at 3am after a wedding reception, I forced myself to have a practice round on my own to get back in the swing of things after a few weeks absence (holidays). Had been playing so-so (Roseberry Grange, near Beamish - County Durham)then THE 9th 558 yarder.
Tee shot 215 yards straight into bunker just off right of fairway. Near the lip, so only about 65 yards out. 280 yards to go, however the last 120 yards is straight downhill, so I thought a well struck 5 wood might get there. Hit it very well, and walking to the marker post at the top of the hill, expect to see it on/ around the green. However, no sign, so after looking back further up the hill, then behind the green, there it was in the hole for an eagle 3!! Was well chuffed! :)

However, I am still awaiting to actually see an eagle go in; maybe it will happen soon with a hole in one (was 4 feet away 3 days earlier, and straight at the flag, but 9 foot past 2 holes after my eagle)

I'm sure you have some stories to tell ......

My unofficial hole-in-one!

Bright sunny day, par 3 160 yards into the blinding stuff. Hit a 7 iron and lost it in the air after 100 or so. Probably started walking before the ball hit the bottom of the cup. Knew it was a pretty straight shot and as I got nearer I couldn't see the ball. Not believing I'd gone over the back I had a quick peek in the hole.
And there it was. But no-one else on the course to prove it. Not even a greenkeeper.

I think the only one I didn't really see go in was my eagle 2 a the 4th at the Downshire witht Hywel (HTL) on our Longest Day challenge in the 3rd round. The green is set in a horseshoe of trees and so is very dark anyway and the sky was quite dark too. I hit a seven iron from 142 yards with a bit of draw. I saw it land on the front edge but thought it might have been too strong. Neither of us saw it or could find it and it was only as a last resort that I looked in the hole.

Most of my other eagles or holed shots have all been on driveable par 4's or from chip ins from around 100 yards or so and so I had the pleasure of seeing the ball drop

Well Imurg - you KNOW it went in, and the bonus is you probably didn't have to get the drinks in!

So we both need to get one in that we have seen; however, I have witnesses for my first one! :)

my eagle came at the 11th hole at flamborough head gc par 5 552 yard hole hit my 4 iron off tee 288 yard then 6iron into green 262 yard to leave myself a 6 foot putt which went in to give me my first 5 point hole the best thing was the look on my dads face when it went in

4 iron= 288 yards?
6 iron= 262 yards?

I take it that hole is on the side of a very, very steep hill???

It can be very windy there! :D

All 3 of my hole in ones. One was an elevated green, one a sunken green, and one a two tiered green with the pin at the top.

One day I will get one I can see.

OK. Last week.

1 under par after 4, terrible double at next.
Got to LONG par 4, took 5 wood, 5 wood (normal play as there is a tree I can't drive over....flippin' thing)

40-ish yards to go. Pin left, up-in-air pitch not available as tee overhangs that route (how many trees??) so decided to chip it along the ground with a 6i. (Only had 6/8/PW that day).

Took aim, chipped a yard right of the line of the flag. Watched it roll on, turned round to pick up bag, heard it hit the pin and drop. Missed it :)

I had another 40-50 yarder at the next. Pulled out my 6i and had such a smile on I raced it through the back......

Now, that is just cruel. With luck like that you should join a course where you can't see the bottom of any pins.
You might not enjoy your golf (visually), but your scores are gonna look pretty damn ace.

Is your Dad Neil Armstrong?

Please tell me this was downhill or something.

Probably on our 10th. Pulled my second shot just next to the 11th tee about 30ft from the 10th green.

I was about 5 ft from a small 3ft fence, I had to chip over the fence and under the branches of a tree onto a green sloping severely left to right. Had about a foot to foot and half of room to squeeze my ball between the fence and branches.

tbh, I was just trying to get it on the green. Struck it ok saw it go through the gap, that was good enough for me. Turned away to put my wedge in the bag only to hear my playing partner congratulate me on a fantastic shot.

Turned round expecting to see it a couple of feet from the pin. Nope it had dropped. :o

My playing partner said it was amazing, it landed about 10ft-15ft to the left of the pin then slowly fed down and trickled in. He said it was like watching in slow-mo :) and all the time I'm faffing around in my bag trying to get my wedge back in

I use to play at Wimbledon Common and in summer the 3rd, 5th, 9th and 15th were all driveable with ease off the yellows and more often than not from the whites too. They were holes that if you made par 4's on you felt like you'd dropped a shot. Several of those greens were bowl shaped too and so would sweep your ball onto the putting surfance and being small in size you were never that far away. Also I was playing every day at the time.

have not had one my self been on the recieving end, playing with a bloke thats tries to wind people up, we ahere playing the 17th his tee shot lands on the up slope off the valley about 170yds to the pin he strikes it well, im on top off the valley and tell him i reckon thats gone in, he says p... off and other words to that effect as we walk to the green still did not belive be even when he could not see his ball on the green, had to go to the hole and get it out befor he belived me.
