There have been posts about the best course that you have ever played and it made me think that to like a course you have to like more or less the whole course. But you can go to a course and fall in love with a certain hole but overall not think much of the course.

So what is the best hole you have every played???

For me it has to be 17th at Sawgrass.

First shot bounced back off the front into the water, second shot to within 6 ft of pin for an easy 4 in total.

The green seemed even smaller than it is on the telly to me but was really good fun.

3rd at Royal County Down, an incredibly tough par 4 of around 470 when I played it ...it plays right alongside the shore side from an elevated tee and some fairway bunkers sitting right on driving distance,2nd shot is slighty blind but you can see part of the green target but trouble surrounds the green in the form of a wee knoll,a bunker and plenty gorse waiting to catch an errant shot....a top top golf hole.

The view from the 3rd tee at RCD is stunning that's for sure. Although most of the front nine would be up there or there abouts.

That's the 9th hole. 10th is the elevated tee with the pond on the right.

Don't know about the best hole, but a really good one is the 11th at Chartham Park in Sussex. Despite the fact that I love it, I never actually play it particularly well...

Fairly short (under 500 yards) par 5 and quite easily reached in two by the bigger hitters. But it's all about the drive.
With a lake that runs the full length of your landing area on the right hand side and some fairly penal rough and mounding on your left, you have to get a straight one away. The number of times I have hit just a slight fade and seen my ball splash into the bloody water. Add to this three or four pine trees that encrouch into the fairway from the left hand side around 150 yards from the green, anything hit out to the left to avoid the lake is then blocked out from going for the green. You really do have to think about it on this tee. A great par 5, stroke index 15 and I don't often walk off of here with 2 points. But it doesn't stop me appreciating what a great hole it is.
