Someone on the right is doing his 'teapot' impression! ......looks well gay!!! :mmm:

Ye, I do hate that photo, I put it out of my mind but a friend posted it on FB the other day so I though I would embrace my inner tea pot. I believe you have some experience with the tea pot... oh no it was King and Queen...

Another F1 fan here, but I wouldn't say that it was the best Grand Prix ever. I loved Canada last year, at least the final stage of it with JB catching, catching, catching then taking SV.

But I can't see any race without Senna (Ayrton) present ever being classed as the best.

Hi All,

Last nights title decider was my 360th watched grand prix and I think it may have been the best. It was not even the outcome I wanted but it was just unreal.

Anyone agree or disagree?

Alex

Disagree. It was very very very good but it was missing that final twist that would have made it the best ever (Think Brazil 08 or Canada 2011)

Di Resta smacking into the wall kind of killed it.

You mean you think it was better than the 1981 title decider in a fracking car park in fracking Las Vegas? ;-) Highlight for me yesterday was seeing Nelson Piquet, the first person I ever interviewed for a newspaper when I was 13 and he was driving F3 before he got his chance for Ensign in the German Grand Prix.

Best Grand Prix EVER? Hmmmm - who knows. Vettel one of the All Time Greats? Telling comment by a GP reporter was along lines of 'his car is better than the rest'.

I am not a huge F1 fan and to me once the first corner is done and dusted it becomes a procession. There is a bit of excitement when they change tyres or if there is an incident but huge swathes are watching them just wander around. However I caught the last half of the race last night and I dont know if it was because the title was still up for grabs and the conditions were nightmarish but it wasall action and really got my attention.

Personally I don't think I'll ever be converted and would rather watch touring cars as my first choice. The races are just more competitive with no quarter asked or given

Nope can't see the attraction. If all the cars were identical, and it came down to the skill of the driver then maybe. Alternatively make the races ten laps, as that seems to be when all the action is.

I did used to watch the races in the 70's when they were not many other sports to watch, and I do remember watching James Hunt win the Championship in the pouring rain in Japan. That was not bad.

Very few champions win it in a dog of a car. Getting the best drive is a big part of the sport. The best drivers tend to get the best cars though, goes with the territory.

A good race, but not the best.

Best race ever? No.
It was an exciting race but not even in my top 5.
Is Vettel an all time great? No
Not until he has won in a car that is not the quickest or the best THEN he will start to look like one of the all time greats. Take Schui when he won his first title in the Bennetton, far from the quickest, his team mate rearly made the points, no where near having the money being thrown at the Red Bull and he made it look easy. Yes some of his, er, tactics were a little dubious but he made a poor car look superb.
Also if, and I know it's a big if, Hamiltons car hadn't broken down 3 times when he was leading, been taken out of the final race while leading and not hit and taken out of the race when in 4th he would have won the title and probably with a race in hand. Reliability is becoming a very big part of the sport now and it's something the Red Bulls have pretty much mastered with Webber going 59 races without a reliability failure in a race.
The one thing I have found strange over the past few years is Red Bull bring in something that bends the rules a little further than they should be or even break the rules full stop and don't get penalised yet any other team tries it and they are hit with grid drops straight away. The slots in the floor pan were blatently in a part of the floor that had to be flat, with no holes yet RB had 2 slots in that area and were only told not to have them at the next race and it cost them almost half a second instantly.
It's been a pretty good season and the rules with DRS and the work done by Pirelli has made for some great overtaking chances.
Looking forward to next season. I can see Hamilton staying out his contract then either returning to Mclaren or going to Ferrari or RB.
All I need now is for Motogp to take a leaf out of F1s book and get shot of all the electronics and I would love that again too.

I'm fascinated by the Vettel bashing, personally i think he is an outstanding driver who regularly shows his class and in the last two races at some point has been last then drove to the points... (i personally cant think of anyone ever doing that two races in a row, when they are battling for the title) any 'drop' or mess up would have blown his chances, I also think he would of made the podium on Sunday if he wasnt repeatedly told "keep it on the black stuff" RBR knew that they had all basis covered as even if JB had of crashed out and FA was 1st they would of just got Webber to pull over thus pushing SV up further.

I would love to see him tested with a proper team 'mate' also, i think Webber is past it and making too many mistakes although a great guy and good for the team i reckon Lewis would push Vettel much much more and maybe this might help confirm him as a great, although i do see a Schumacher situation developing where he is always no 1 and has a no 2 driver, which would be a shame.

Alonso this season has been superb and showed that keeping your nose clean really can be rewarding (lewis take note) but i think Lewis is the one that will come away this season feeling the most frustrated, if McLaren had put together half a decent team effort he would of been out of sight before Vettel went on a bit of a purple patch.

On the topic of best race, Im not so sure this was the greatest personally id go for JB in canada or Lewis (i know didnt win) Brazil 08, and to throw a complete spanner in my credibility i love love love watching the singapore race just for the spectacle and how it looks.......

If they gave Vettel a proper team mate would they have to give him the same car as Vettel?

I'm not saying Vettel has a superior car to Webber but.....erm.........well..... Actually that's exactly what I'm saying! (another Schumacher similarity?)

Personally I think all the races should be at night as in Singapore. A large part of of F1 is the spectacle and under floodlights it shines! Also after last weekend they should follow the rain around the globe not the sun!

I'm not a massive F1 fan, but I do take a passing interest.

I'd love to know how much Newey is paid, it looks to me that wherever he goes, wins the title and constructors. As far as I can tell, Alonso,Riakonnen and Hamilton are the best racers, whereas Vettel and Button are the best drivers?

I'm fascinated by the Vettel bashing...

I don't think anyone is 'bashing' Vettel - just saying maybe he cannot yet be classed an all-time great. Was he worthy winner of this years F1 Championship - purely a matter of opinion. As a matter of fact he certainly won it and to do so he must have driven some great races as well as having a good car and luck. But isn't that life.

It was enthralling stuff for sure, owing to the circumstances of the race, what hinged on the outcome and the weather. But best ever?

Not even the best race in the last fortnight IMO!

A very good race without doubt but not the best in my opinion. Also finger boy is a talented driver but he does have a superior car, as mentioned above, once he has done it in a car that is clearly not the best then he can be classed as a great driver
Alonso was the driver of the season (followed by Raikkonen) for the way he dragged everything out of that Ferrari and came so close.

Best bit of Sundays gp was kimi getting lost around the support gp pit lane!
