What's the best concerts you've ever been to ?

There's been a couple of threads recently about good concerts.

So list your favourite gigs. And a brief description.

Only 3 per post.

I'll start with:

The Rolling Stones at Hampden Park 2006. I've always loved the Stones, cos I really grew up with them. My good lady hated them with a vengeance until I dragged her along to this gig.
Now she loves 'em. Nuff said.

The Who at Parkhead in 1975.
Loudest gig ever. Plus they had SAHB supporting.

Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Glasgow Apollo Theatre in 1977. Just before they died. Great!!
:D :D

Status Quo at the Hammy Odeon - front row seats - the business
Def Leppard - In the Round at Sheffield - sooo good
Thunder at Rock City, Nottingham - one of the best nights I ever had!

Oh buggering hell - I could go on for hours.........Only 3??
So I can't mention ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Motorhead, Rush, Aerosmith or (dare I?) Gary Glitter at Friars, Aylesbury one Christmas........

1: Coldplay & The Killers @ Shepherds Bush Empire last year. Great venue and incredible to see two such huge bands in such a small place.

2: Party at the Palace. Queen's Golden Jubilee concert in the gardens @ Buckingham Palace. Some crap bands but a pretty special event. Even better, as I hadn't even applied for tickets - a friend had applied in my name. First I heard about the concert was when this massive gold envelope came through the letterbox.

3: Sterephonics @ Leeds Town & Country Club some years ago. They'd just hit the big time and were superb.

The Cure at Wembley Arena - played for 3hrs 20 min with only 2 five minute breaks - awesome.

Green Day at Milton Keynes Bowl - great entertainment.

Alice Cooper - also at Milton Keynes Bowl. Simply amazing stage show.

Lots of other great concerts and festivals but those 3 stand out.

Super Furry Animals @ UEA LCR- I've seen them about 5 times they're great live at what is quite an intimate venue.
Wolf Mother also at UEA- Mind blowing
The Hives also at UEA- Would have been the best gig ever, but I bought tickets and kind of forgot to go :D

For me it has to be Rush at the Queens Hall Leeds, I love the band and was 15/16 and never thought I would ever have the opportunity to see them live, they seemed so far away to a young kid if you know what I mean. I think Farewell To Kings had just come out and they were touring that (I may be wrong)
Second King Kurt at Brannigans (a hole) Leeds, the same night they were on Top of the Pops so they arrived late and although they were very far from the best band in the world they rocked the place. Third place UFO at Leeds uni, my first live gig so it has a special place in my heart.

Easy one this, and timely. I was watching some old footage on You Tube last night.

Despite great gigs by Pink Floyd, Gensis, and Simple Minds at Earls Court and the old Wembley Stadium. I'd have to go for.

Simple Minds 1984 at Poole Arts Centre. And after seeing the you tube footage of that era. Flipping awesome memories.

Thunder and Skin. Same venue. On the 'behind closed doors' tour. Just so entertaining.

Lastly. This ones tricky. It's either the Black Crowes at Portsmouth Guildhall, the Levellers at Poole again, or Roachford at a tiny little venue in Portsmouth called the Wedgewood rooms.

There's something I love about smaller venues.

Me and Fragger were there too.

There was a plastic bottle fight going on and Fragger tried to kick one full of pee - missed and his trainer came off. Last seen flying left and right to the far side of the ground and into oblivion.

Has to be Pink Floyd at Earls Court foolowed by Genesis at the same venue and Queen at both the stadium and the arena.

Live Aid was great to say I was there but not the greatest concert itself. Notable mentions to Marillion, Fish, Dire Straits Elton John (no really - what a showman) Meat Loaf and Tina Turner

The Stones in Rotterdam 2003 thought they would be past their best but what a great band to see live.

Santana at Hammersmith 1985 seen them three times brilliant.

But the best gig was seeing George Thorogood and the destroyers at the Armadillo in Glasgow last year, what a band one of the few that sounded as good live as listning to on a cd.

Went to see Lou Reed at Hammersmith also last year arrived late and only saw the encore gutted

Kind of easy this for me-

1 Michael Jackson @ Glasgow Green greastest showman ever (You wouldn't have to have been a Jackson fan to enjoy this one)

2 Coldplay @ SECC better than the Bellahouston Park concert

3 Jean Michael Jarre @ Clyde Auditorium Waited 30 years to see him live and then got to see him twice in the space of a year (Two different shows)
