I havent been playing too long and have mainly stuck to the same courses.

What are the best courses in Yorkshire, and also the best value for money?

Love to see what everyone has to think.

Never played Moortown but been told it is fantastic.

Yes Bingley is a nice course, Baildon is good, very wild up there some days, Rudding Park is a good course, I play regulary at West Bradford which I think is a really nice course, nothing flash but is always in good condition. Otley is very very nice as is Hollins Hall.

I played Ganton recently for £50 (summer is £85) and it was very good and in great condition for February. Moore Allerton is another great place, just north of Leeds, which has 27 proper holes. We can play it for free though, which helps though!!

Can't disagree with any of the above comments but would put in a word for my home course Malton & Norton which has 27 varied holes providing an interesting test and is usually in good condition.

Off the beaten track is Kirkbymoorside GC which is very tight and hilly and has a welcoming membership. A bit of a marmite course in that many love it but some hate it, usually those that dislike gorse, scrub and narrow fairways.

Alwoodley is absolute class, as is Ganton.
You can play these on a twighlight in summer for about £45-50 and they're worth every penny.
I've also heard good things about Shipley Beckfoot and Ilkley.

Further south is Hillsborough. I played it a couple of years ago and it's one of the nicest tracks I've played in that neck of the woods.

Had a weekend at Willow Valley last year - Brighouse (is that in Yorkshire still or too far to the west?) - two courses the cheaper and easier of the two is sold as a 'starter / inermediate course' and cost £18 a round decent enough as a place to play. The nicer one is £35 a round and a harder test but I really enjoyed playing that one.

I'm a member at Moortown and there has been a huge amount of course improvements over the winter. I think this year could be it's finest year. The view from the 7th tee is formidable! I haven't played Ganton but heard great things about it. Alwoodley is also a great course.
Moor Allerton certainly has it's challenges and having 27 holes means there is usually no problem with a teetime but it can get a little heavy underfoot in winter.

I played Malton and Norton this year and thought it was a great course and very nice hospitality.

Ganton has a HUGE reputation, and I've played it once. It was a very enjoyable round, but being absolutely honest, it wasnt as 'fantastic' as I'd imagined. Didnt find it that difficult either, maybe I was just lucky that day.

Fulford is lovely, and holds a special place in my golfing heart for personal reasons. That aside, its a beautiful parkland course.

Hollins Hall was mentioned......that was ok, but hardly spectacular.

I guess I should also put in a great word for my own track, Brough Golf Club, here in East Yorks. A superb & tight par69, which with a new Head Greensman in charge 18mths ago, is rapidly heading back to its very very best, which was when we hosted a Seniors Event some years ago.
You earn your score here, and its always in super condition. In fact we had a visiting party last Thursday who couldnt beleive the day they had for £25/head, even for February !
Was nice to hear.
