Belly Putter to Normal Putter?

Just wondering whether a belly putter could be cut down to be used as a normal putter?

Haven't got one but seen a few cheap and wondered whether it could be done?

A belly putters head will be heavier than normal to balance the club due to, obviously, the longer shaft.
If you simply cut the saft to length and regrip, the head will feel heavy.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing if you can handle the balance.
A weight under the grip will re balance the club so the swing weight returns to somewhere near normal.
It makes the club heavier by quite some margin, maybe 100g total and that can feel strange.
Worth buying cheap and experimenting though..
