Hi,

Has any one had any experiences of the custum fit centre at the belfry?

My irons are 10 years old and I need a new set so I might make a booking.

Any reviews of the service you've had?

There is only one answer get CFitted.

Shame that wasnt the question asked.

If you are in the market, go for it.
Its not like some places. They are all PGA Pros and it should be a helpful and enjoyable experience :)

Bob the title said belfry to custom fit or not Alls am saying is he should get custom fitted. And defo there as I have heard great reviews about the place.

No problem bob did you get that message i sent you the other day about a practice plan or would I be having to pay you for that.

It's probably best to wait till your arm is better then ask again. :) Which arm is broken?

Done the Belfry experience. I can highly recommend it.
If you are interested in one particular brand, you may be better to go to one of their CF centres.
If you have an open mind, definately the Belfry.

I know CF is a bit of a hot topic on here but for me after a couple of months i realised it was quite pointless -

I am Very Normal - height arm length etc all the tests they did resulted in me ending up with regular everythings lie, shaft grip etc.

I know this has nothing to do with the belfry but if you pay for it there and you are a Normal person it may not be worth it.

However it is always great going to the belfry (not been CF'ed there) and the service is always great and it could be interesting to see how your swing is and how your hitting the ball. It is reasureing (kind off)To know i am normal!

As I understand it. There is more to CF than height, length, hand size and all those other 'static' measurements.

I would have thought that Murphs post the other night would have been insightful to the whole CF experiance.

Having had a very 'light' CF at a demo day, and being advised on the correct shaft for my driver. I can see the point of being CF'd. Even at my level.

CF is so much more than just static measurements. There is also a physcological benefit as well as the physical ones.

Go and enjoy it.

There's 2 types.
The static fit...height, hand size etc

and the Dynamic fit....when you actually hit balls and get the loft, lie etc checked.
As far as being normal, its good to know you have the correct clubs which can boost the confidence, but take away something to blame for your not-so-perfect performances.
Swings and roundabouts :)

samborra666,

I've not been to the Belfry for a Custom Fit session, I have however been fitted for three of the last four sets of Irons I've played with. At 6'2" it certainly made sense for me to get them fitted properly. I've used either my own Pro at the club, or another nearby when I wanted to try another manufacturers offering. each time it's been the full works. Static measurements then dynamic measurement when hitting balls. Been happy with what I've had and achieved.

I personally don't think it's necessary to travel miles for a CF session, there's bound to be a qualified PGA pro nearby who can help you out with what you need.

Seconded.....

You'll get a top service at the Belfy and places like it, but you'll also pay top dollar probably.

From my experience I would disagree.

I spoke to one of our club pro's who fitted me for a G10 Driver with a Regular shaft. I really wasn't sure that Regular was for me but he was adamant and told me that he has got 25yrs fitting experience and gave me an example on how one of the members went to The Belfry and couldnt get on with the clubs then went to him and then he started to play much better.

Anyway, as I still wasnt sure I asked Mizuno (who CF'd me two weeks later for everything on my sig.) and they told me that I should have been fitted in a stiff shaft (all of my Mizzy's are), I even went to AG for a second opinion who also stated Stiff (average swing speed 103mph),

I travelled a 200mile round trip to Wrexham and thought that it was time and money well spent. I honestly think that it depends on the guy that you see, he could be just round the corner or 200miles away!!

If I was in your shoes I would go for it, you're not obliged to make a decision there and then.

I do agree that you will pay through the nose at The Belfry though. ;)

I'm with you PPE. As we don't know where Richard is from, it's hard to know how far he'd have to travel.
As for your business, It's hard to say if your were definitely "wrongly" fitted with a speed of 103 mph.
100 mph is the "old" point where one might wish to try a stiffer shaft.......you'd potentially get on well with both if you are on the edge, so it's a case of personal preference.
For woods, I'd err on the regular side, but not for irons maybe....

If you've got the right club, you've got the result. I don't necessarily think the first pro was wrong.
