Hi,

Looking at booking a holiday with the wife in September and are looking at Belek as a compromise - beach holiday but I can take my clubs and get a few rounds in. Looking for some advice - has anybody stayed at one of the Gloria hotels or played one of the courses there? Any thoughts on the place?

Also, any other courses you would recommend playing? What is the best way to book rounds before I go / any companies you have dealt with for doing so? Finally, as I'll be on my own do you think there will be any issues getting a game out there?

Sorry for all the questions!!!

Cheers

Played with 11 others in March last 2 years and going again next March. Top hotels, top courses which you would not believe are so young. National, Tat (ignore the name), Montgomery etc. all good tracks.
If you're on your own they will team you with other players. Last year they wanted to fit into our group a couple of tall blonde Swedes - being Seniors we declined.

I went in March & stayed at the Sirene, played the Sultan, Pasha & National.

The golf courses are very good but can be slow if you tee off at the wrong time, I'd advise making sure you booked a time before 9 to make sure you get round at a reasonable pace (if you teed off after 1pm you wouldn't finish when we went)

All the nightlife is centred round the hotel you are in as they are generally all inclusive, so I wouldn't expect a lively holiday (it also seems to appeal to the older generation so expect the odd pompous old git lecturing the barstaff after a few sherries).

I booked through Yourgolftravel & got a good deal, although there local agent messed up a few of the bookings so it might be worth checking when you get there that all the details are the same as those booked.
