Before you throw your banana skin into the trees....

I have always thrown my 'natural' waste in to the woods because I believe in aerobic breakdown rather than anaerobic breakdown which is what would happen if it was thrown in a bin.

My apple cores in particular get deposited where I know the crows will pick it up and eat a lot of what is left.

I only found out about banana degradation recently but I never eat them on the course anyway.

Whether banana skins degrade or not is irrelevant. How long it takes is irrelevant. Chucking them down is littering pure & simple. If you think it's ok, then l suggest you take them home and chuck them down in your own garden. And I'll bring mine along as well to help you appreciate the point ...

People that throw banana skins on the ground have a mentality to throw anything on the ground. That's what's wrong and it's that what needs to change. Fed up of going to all courses and seeing bottles, nub ends, litter etc etc littering courses.

And being the sort of member that I am I do find myself, every time I am out, picking up someone else's rubbish and sticking in my bag for the nearest bin. That said we seem to be pretty good on the rubbish front - and so such as discarded chocolate bar wrappers and tissue paper stand out a mile and are asking to be picked up. And so I do. But I can't go near fag ends :)
