David Beckham has escaped a second speeding conviction after his trial was thrown out on a technicality - despite the fact he was doing almost 20mph over the speed limit.
The former footballer, 43, was accused of driving his loaned £200,000 Bentley at 59mph in a 40mph zone on the A40 in London's Paddington just after 5.30pm on January 23.

This is disgraceful. He can afford this Freeman lawyer, “Mr Loophole” when mere mortals would just take the fine/ban.

Morally shameful. I don't care that it's legally, technically correct. That doesn't matter. Beckham should have taken it on the chin, employed a temporary driver and sucked it up. I hope this sticks with him and the brand gets damaged.

As for the lawyer guy,:mad::mad::mad:. Repulsive.

I suspect it won’t make a blind bit of difference because it’s speeding and he is more in the public eye in the US now. Thankfully him and his wife seemed to have faded away in the UK

And if you were in his financial position what would you do?

Exactly what I said. Suck it up and if it comes with a ban then employ a driver for the period. He's not short of a few quid, it wouldn't be costing him his job.

Do we know that he would have got a ban?

Surely it's the authorities (police) that should be criticised for not complying with the requirements for notifying the driver.

Had they done their job properly then there would have been no "loophole" to exploit.

He hasn't been 'acquitted'! The case was thrown out!

What's 'disgraceful' is the time it took for the letter to arrive at Bentley's office! Probably a consequence of 'cost savings' by the Publicly funded bodies involved!

The fault was with the Post Office, not the police. The letter was posted Feb 2nd, it arrived Feb 7th. It should have arrived by Feb 6th. It's weasily

It is the responsibility of the police to ensure that the notice arrives in time.

It's also the responsibility of the driver not to exceed the speed limit.
I hope this does more damage to his image than simply sucking it up, paying the fine and taking the points.
He knows he's broken the law and he's escaped a teeny weeny fine, relative to his wealth and points that would probably expire before he drives over here again.
He's dropped drastically in my estimations.

Fair comment, and correct, but I feel they sent it in time. They have been let down by the postal system. The consequence of this is that they may have to start sending letters by courier, next day requiring a signature. This adds time and cost to the system. All because goldenballs couldn't grow a pair.

I don't know why you're getting in a tizzy, it's not like this is a new thing, getting off in court has always been easier dependant on your financial status, ask OJ about that.

Blame to be apportioned on all fronts. Beckham for committing the offence, the police for not ensuring the documentation arrived in time and that disgraceful lawyer for using the loophole to get the case thrown out. It makes a mockery of the system and does the Beckham brand no favours although it's not really relevant in the UK anymore

Blimey that’s a bit harsh Phil, what’s she ever done wrong to you?

And Tbf she’s made a pretty good living off her own back, unlike Mrs Rooney & Gerrard for eg.

By the way I’m not a spice girl fan either 👍🏻
