Getting towards the end of doing my bathroom up and after some help as to which extractor fan to get....

The 1 i had in previously was a waste of time so hoping there may be some1 that can help with something that is decent;)

All depends on size of the room, any windows etc. For a small bathroom with a window a simple 10-12W one will do. But for bigger or with no windows then a larger 20-25W one would be advisable.
Anything by Vent-Axia is good in my book as used them when I renovated a couple of years back (small shower room, no window) and it works a treat. Maybe consider a timer one that stays on for a pre-set period after you flick the off switch.

Greig, thx very much mate:thup:

Its only small rooom 2mx2m with no window, but still need decent fan to clear it so will def take ur advice n av look round for 20-25w...

cheers

Is anyone on here a qualified electrician? Only wondering if extractor fan is a job that needs notifying. I've not done one and it would appear to depend on the connections, the switching, where the fan is located (window/wall/attic space etc

Maybe in England under Part P if there is an electrical and structural change to the fabric of the building.
In Scotland we pretty much get carte blanche to blow ourselves up or take down the occasional wall or two :D

Hamshanker: Screwfix are your friend here, they do a pretty big range of Vent-Axia that would fit the bill. Joking aside with BT, you should always get a qualified spark to fit them as there is a mixture of electricity and moisture.

Ah yes, didn't notice your location.

The regulations are quite stringent for bathrooms but there are fans that have remote fan (ie outside the bathroom) and wiring could be sourced from non bathroom too ..... Anyway I'd be happier for an sparkle to do the work, or at least confirm that your covered ;)

I made a mistake of fitting an independent one to switch on as & when which is great in the warmer months but in the winter the cold wind blows straights in so I have to cover it up with clear film!

So don't have one that you can see daylight through, have a bend cowling on the outside or it will be a cold bathroom.

Its gonna be a straight swap for old 1 which is on timer so im assuming te wiring should be the same,if not then will get neighbour to av a look as he is a sparky:)..

Off down to screwfix now, cheers for everyones help n replies:thup:
