Barca v Man U

I'm a fan of football and would like to see a good exciting game with loads of skill on display. Best game this year for me was the Arsenal v Barca home leg.

As for who do I want to win? For the genuine Man Utd fans I'd like to see them lift the cup. For the 90% of so called fans that revel in the glory of the last 15 years or so and started to "support" United in the 90's once they started winning something I hope they get absolutely stuffed and played off the park.

So on balance..... that will be the latter then.

I took a dislike to Man U in the days of Ince & co when they booted the oppositon off the park but cried like babies if they were touched. This got worse with Ferguson and the attempt to control officials with mind games and then (as a Palace fan) what Cantona did at our place.

Add that to all the guys who support Man U but struggle even to watch them on tv but still are gobby when they win and you finally get me, a Barca fan for the night!

Chris

I hope United get stuffed. Can't abide supporting the Scum!

Rite on brother :) :) :) :)

Typical Scot - Chip on shoulder! But then there is no football above Hadrian's Wall!

But then any one who cant support a home team against a spanish one is pretty pathetic - but then we are dealing with mostly scousers and you can't trust them can you!

Chris

Thought what Cantana did in 95 was a disgrace. However being a Blackburn fan I was delighted with his ban.

We go to Spain quite often and if In Madrid they WILL support Barca and vice versa. From the posts on here it seems we have a different culture.

What do you think is the reason?

I spend the whole year hopeing you get hammered so why would I want them to win this game ?????

I'm an Arsenal lad, and have been for over 40 years.

I hate Utd, and used to hate Fergy.

But

The way he has managed his side since Abramovich started the really stupid money games that Arsenal just can't quite keep up with has led me to a new respect for him.

In the early part of this century I thought Arsene had him under control, but when Chelski started throwing serious money around, we just backed off and the board are happy making a few bob. But Utd have gambled with bankrupcy year after year, and Fergy has kept their heads above water ( just ) whilst winning more and more titles.

I prefer the Barca way, and if they were playing anyone other than an English team would be happy for them to win.

But I believe a strong English game needs all our teams to do as well as possible, and think Fergy deserves the result.

I will definitely start out supporting them.

However....

If they start poncing about, I have been known to stop supporting them half way through a game.

And then peeing myself laughing when they concede.

( I can't help it - it's tough supporting Rooney if he goes into *** mode. )

It's interesting that in a recent poll, Manchester United came out by quite a big margin as being the UK's most hated brand / business!! :D :D

As a Chelsea fan, I will be hoping that Barcelona win. Not for any 'anyone but Man U' attitude, but because I want to see the best footballing side win, and that is clearly Barcelona by a significant margin. Man U were deservedly Premiership champions this year as they were far more consistent than Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City, but in my opinion I don't think this United side is a great one - certainly aren't a patch on the United sides of the late 90's early '00's

Fair enough united won the league, although I think they are the worst team red face has managed. The rest of them, mainly arsenal, seemed to implode when in sight of the title. Nose bleed time.

However, I hate united with a passion. They are in debt to the n th degree, and this cannot continue. So are barca, and real. It is nonsense and has to stop sooner rather than later.

Barca cheat like heck. Rvp got sent off for kicking the ball away 1 second after the whistle. What was that about. abidal had rvp round the throat, and so did another barca player on clichy? Supposed to be a straight red, but zip.

If the refs keep up the barca glop fest, I can't see manure winning this, as they are swimming against the barca glop fest stream.

The press are just waiting to jack off on another barca win.

I agree the ref has a tough job tomorrow. Noth sides aren't adverse to some shameful tactics to try and influence a game. If a football match is allowed to break out Barca will be too strong for United. I agree with Murph that the current side isn't a patch on some of the others. Fergie has the nucleus of another young dynasty coming through but they aren't the finished article and he needs to buy quality and seasoned heads to add some steel.

I know Barca play some fantastic stuff, but it's worth remembering that the Arse were actually going through when Van Persie got sent off.

Add the fact that their star injured midfielder gave away one of the goals, and they played below par over the two games, and they still had a damn good chance ( if it had fallen to a centre forward ) of going through in the last minutes of the away leg.

I just don't see Barca as being invincible.

I don't see them as invincible but just stronger in most areas.

I know I'm in a Minority, but the way Barca play, tip-tapping it around for seemingly 20minutes, I find just boring.

Yes I know they are incredibly skillful, yes I know they are incredibly succesful, but still, I find it boring.

Not a patch on a good Premiership game imo.

Its at Wembley, 2nd home for Utd after all,........and I fancy the Reds to turn them over actually. Oh, and Alves getting sent off......

Well I'm with you Macster. :)

Knowing Fergie, he has something up his sleeve, and wont make the mistakes from last time.

Of course United will have to be at their best - and need to hunt the ball down and NOT give it away as much as they sometimes do.

Any win will do me.

Golfmmad.

Midfield, I agree

Defensively, I see Utd as being stronger.

I don't think Barca like it up 'em Mr Mainwaring.

I've got Giggs to score first and Utd to win at 175/1. I'm not holding my breath :D

Golfmmad.

Utd are better than Arsenal.

Arsenal were outclassed, but were blimmin close to winning.

So, even if Barca play keep ball, Utd have to have a reasonable chance.

Barca were the best team in the tournament last year, and didn't win.

Utd have a full squad to choose from.

Bring it on.
