Bands Who Should NOT Re-Form

Any band that cannot reform with the original line up. Replacing lead singers especially does not work in general.

Any band that have been apart for more than a few years. Others have kept on touring, kept up the hard work whilst anyone who has split up for decades and tries to come back is clearly looking for a pay day.

As for bands that should not reform, I would not like to see AC/DC playing again now that Brian Johnson cannot tour any more (I know the irony that he was not the original lead singer).

If rumours are to be believed, AC/DC are currently in Canada recording a new album with Brian Johnson back in the fold - remains to be seen if they will then tour next year.

I thought the death of Malcolm Young was the death of the band, with BJ being away also but that is an interesting rumour (y)

I can appreciate the back catalogue they have ,for a band to be that popular and sold vast amount of records they must be able to write a good song.

I generally like singers that are not conventionally good singers hence my liking for blues music.

The Vocals and harmonies I have always disliked ,I distinctly remember years ago throwing a bowl of porridge at the radio when one of their songs came on. 😱

I’m sure some of the music I like will be considered rubbish by some, but that’s good ,we all have different tastes.

If you dont like their music in the first place, why be bothered if they reform or not?

I thought an issue with Brian Johnson hearing meant he could not tour again. New recorded music would be good but spare us axl rose fronting them again on tour

I think they have been able to develop some sort of hearing aid that has addressed the issues - not sure whether it will enable live performances. We saw Rose's first gig with them in Lisbon, and whilst he sang well, it was not AC/DC - wasnt helped by fact he had broken his foot and had to do whole gig sat in a chair!

I think that Stevie Young who played in place of Malcolm on the Rock or Bust tour is in the recording sessions, along with Phil Rudd - is also rumoured that the band are using some previously unreleased guitar parts of Malcolm's within the new stuff.
Several photos of the band at the studio appeared on their fans forum, which started the rumours - nothing confirmed officially so may lead to nothing or be nonsense. Classic Rock mag also quoted the Johnson return/new recordings.

I've seen them live 7 times and they were superb every time. Easy to have a dig at Oasis, but they were a sound of a generation and their music seems to be standing the test of time.
Correct. I think in the last year or two Liam was phoning it in a little bit, and the very last album they released was pure garbage, but in their heyday there was no one better. I grew up with them as my favourite band when I was a lad in the 90s, some of the songs Noel wrote back then are among the best songs ever written.

Utter rubbish. If you think it's easy to write songs like Live Forever and Don't Look Back In Anger, then I urge you to give it a go yourself and see how you do.

Sporty could sing a bit, others can be made to sound ok with autotune or whatever in the studio.

What's annoying is these acts are held up 20 years later as being of historical musical importance when it wasn't musical but just pop-cultural importance for a generation of single-buying, smash hits reading, teeny bop girls aged 5-12 back then, no-one else. Nothing wrong with that but why do we all have to be informed now as if it's widely important, it's not. Clever marketing but the musical legacy is non-existent.
Only in x-factor watching, Sun reading Britain would this make national news.

On topic sort of glad Plant didn't re-tour with Led Zeppelin after Bonhams death, Bonham was a massive part of LZ's sound and possibly irreplaceable. Wisely knew to leave legacy be in spite of the ££ he could have made. The one off gig for Live Aid was awful, the concert for the Atlantic Records boss memeorial was overhyped and not that good either. Unplugged stuff with Page is so so too imo. Voice had gone by late 70s.

I love a bit of pop nostalgia, but the Spice Girls songs haven't stood the test of time like others of that era. Some Britney songs, Backstreet Boys etc are still loved by people today, yet when you look at the Spice Girls songs now they all sound dated, twee and awful.

I think the whole world would rejoice if they didn't reform, awful, awful band.
Had to suffer one of their gigs at Hammersmith Odeon (or whatever it's called now) last year, as the wife loves them. She kept going on about what a great voice he had, so was most put out when I remarked that he sounded like Vic Reeve's pub singer - thought he was very average
