Stopped using the dunlop loco when someone laughed at me cause i'm a sensitive type

I actually quite like Dunlop DDH tour distance balls. It may be because it's the first ball I ever played an entire round with without losing

I agree with this comment. Whatever standard you are I always advise to use the same balls all the time, regardless of what they are. You need to get used to how they feel, react etc. Changing manufacturer and compression types every other round or even a few holes is adding another complication to your game.

Everyone says this. I tend to stick with one type per round (although I have been known to pull out a high spin ball for a short par 3 or two!). Other than that, I'll tee off with anything......

I can't honestly say I have trouble with leaving chip/putts short/long. Then again, I tend to putt for a while before I play and I hardly ever use anything other than approximately the same type of ball all the time....i.e. not proVs and not Top Flites either....

I guess if swapped from a rock hard distance to a soft 3 -piece I would notice and it might be detrimental.

The ball argument is subjective and personal to each player. As for the technology, its true there are differences but IMO very few golfers reach the skill and feel level to benefit greatly from a balls performance and I include myself and many single figure players in this.

Some golfers have a very good feel with one or two short clubs, of this there is no doubt, I have played for 30 odd yrs on and off and at my best off 6 h/c , I could tell the difference between a crap ball and a top of the range ball in play, but to be honest I have never noticed much difference at all between mid range/mid priced and top range/top priced balls and this has been reflected in my scoring even at its best. What I basically mean is I would score more or less the same with a prov 1 as I would with bulk buy mid range ball, in fact maybe even better with the cheapo. I think many golfers live in dreamworld when they believe they can see, feel and control the performance of their ball because if I could do that all the time I would be a scratch player or better. I think such knowledge and skill in use of ball is really the domain of the top players and pro's. Then again belief can sometimes help a golfers game along.

Use any decent ball from mid range upwards, if you fancy top balls get lake balls. Don't waste money on something that will have no effect on a high h/c players game, wait until you are better at the game.

Can't rate the Srixon AD333 highly enough for an all year round ball to play. They're cheap and in IMHO are the perfect tossup between distance and feel/spin.

Unless someone is giving you the balls free of charge I'd never use Pro Vs or anything of the ilk price wise as honestly what is the point?

The difference to your game will be minimal if you are good enough to benefit and the prices charged for them is horrific!
