Ball on Slope

Bit of advice please, behind our 17th Green is a quite steep bank (closely mown), normally a ball will hit it and roll down, today a ball was plugged in the bank off the Tee, it was only a bounce game, once the ball was unplugged, cleaned and placed it would not stay on the bank and every time simply rolled closer to the hole, being a friendly game today it was simply placed on the top of the bank and the shot played, if it had been a comp would've our actions been the same? as after 2 drops we tried to place it carefully on the slope, but after 5 attempts we gave up. One club length behind would of kept it on the slope.

Having Dropped twice, it is placed. When it still moves, then go to nearest point where it can be placed at rest!
