I've had a shocking time on the course this year. Point ones in EVERY qualifier played. Starting on 12.3, I'm now point one off 14. so with no more qualifiers to play in I've finished there. Many many times this year I've though of running my trolley, bag and clubs into the river and walking off and calling it a day. Winter now approaches and if we have another one like last year where the course is closed or semi closed for 5 months, I think I'm jacking in membership and just going to play when I feel like it. I'm off on holiday tomorrow and was going to take my golf clothes with me just in case we found time to get a round in, but, I dunno if to bother. If it wasn't for the course looking so damn good I'd jack in now.

All year I have played rubbish. 8,000 different swing changes trying to find *something*. Got a big cut by shooting 15 over playing off 13 (thanks CSS). After that I went from 12.4 to 13.2 with 0.1 increases in every comp since then. Last night, I shot 10 over and back down to 12.

The lesson to be learned here is that no matter how many rounds you play, whether you think you're getting nowhere and shooting a good score seems miles away, that I am awesome and I birdied the 15th hole. Thank you.

Ha ha great post

If it's really bothering you that much- get a playing lesson, keep stats on where you are missing shots then come up with a plan of action on how to improve and how to score... a lot of people bang on about how they are constantly going up 0.1 but when you ask them what they are doing to improve they say nothing... just my opinion but if you aren't improving (at anything) then eventually you are going the other way.

I've gone from 6 - 9 since December.. Struggled to break 100 at the start of the season... Spent most of the last 3 years injured.. Fell out of love, then back in love, then out of love ad infinitum... Never once considered quitting.. Why would I? I've put almost 10 years into this stupid game.. Why would I throw that away..

Anyway, finally shot a level par round yesterday.. For the first time in 3 years I feel like I might just be able to compete when I enter a Comp (rather than just pretend I do it for fun).. Might be nice to feature in the top half of a leaderboard for a change..

In summary - Man up and stop being a pussy....;)

I started at 12.2 and have successfully (or not) risen to 13.6 (14) and had so many 0.1's this year. It's frustrating when I think I've been playing some half decent stuff. A stupid game but you have to keep plugging away

Apart from my 41 pointer whilst handing my 3 cards in for handicap at Cooden 18 months ago, I've played like a complete chomper in every other qualifier.
There's a game in there somewhere (went round the back 9 the other week 2 over gross so I know I can do it) but I'm not playing enough to find any kind of consistency.
The vast majority of qualifiers at the club are held on Saturdays, when I'm working.
