AW's observation #1

Also why is that people over sixty have no sense of courtesy when shopping, they seems to have straight line syndrome, and never allow other people to walk without going round them.

I think all pensioners shopping should be fitted with brake lights - they just stop in the middle of the pavement with no thought as to people around them. No point fitting them with indicators because they couldn't make their mind up which way to go anyway. ;)

Why don't we import the amazing good manners of the Canadian cross-section, no lights, no roundabout, just each approach taking it in turn counterclockwise, brilliant but I was confused as hell the first time I approached one.
Also turning left a lights when there is no crossing traffic.

They should be clamping down on the shops that make the plates up - it is illegal after all. Having said that, knowing our Laws, it's probably legal to make them but not legal to have them on your car - duh?

[/QUOTE]

I think all number plate suppliers have to put their identity on them , often just a post code . But the illegal plates are sold as a novelty and not for road use, and they very seldom put their ID on those.
Yet when i wanted one with a different font for my daughters car they made me aware that it would not be legal yet still wanted to see the log book and ID, why should i have to provide a log book when it isn't to go on the car? :D

Because the British are too damn self-centred and selfish to care about anyone else on the road.
It would be mayhem.......

Yep, I agree with Yufuin. I drove for 2 weeks last time I was in Canada and only encountered one roundabout and that was on an industrial park that wasn't in use.

Also you can turn right at traffic light if theres no one coming when they are red, and overtake on multi carriage ways on either side (sounds dangerous but you soon get used to looking both sides befor a manouvre) and people only go into the overtaking lane to do just that on the 2 lane motorways - they alway pull back in as soon as they can - so very civilised!

Talking about cars....how difficult would it be for garages and insurance companies to supply you with a disc , same as road tax , that has to be displayed along with aforementioned tax disc so that its instantly noticeable that you have all 3 important pieces of info relevant to your vehicle.

This has bugged me for years and i'm sure would cut down on 80-90% of non-insured cars.

It is the same with e-mail addresses. All our applicants have to apply for jobs via NHS Jobs at our hospital and so it needs their e-mail. Why anyone would think something like sexy_bum@...co.uk on an application would be seen as professional escapes me. Even if they get the role, they come in with their ID and sexy_bum should have Wide Load attached.

There are loads of similar e-mails we get and most fail to live up to the hype

Maybe, but we're not the worst, my brother-in-law lives in Greece and he's amazed people give way when he visits, and having driven in Italy where the seem to remove any manners before they give you a licence; talk about dog eat dog.

I nearly got myself killed out here first time I ventured on the roads.

Was waiting to pull out onto a dual carriage way back towards the compound, and a car comingtowards me was flashing his lights - "Ah, that's kind, he's letting me pull out"

Out I creep, foot down, cue the longest, loudest honking of a horn i've ever heard - and one irate Arab cursing at me through his window as he flew past.

That was a lesson learnt quickly - Asians and Arabs flash to let you know they're coming, not to let you out of junctions.

Driving standards out here are so poor it's unbelievable. Whenever I go back to the UK on holiday, I appreciate how good driving is there. In the UK you're waiting for that one idiot, who, granted, is never far away.

Out here however, everyone's a feckin idiot on the road.
