Hi Guys,

Working away again and instead of rushing home to play my home course this is a definite overnighter. Im looking for a cheap round where i can rent clubs and if it has a hotel attached then im definitely winning. I can go and but some cheap trousers but if there are any council ones where i wont be hung for wearing jeans that would be good Im working in the centre BL9 so as close to there the better.

Cheers in advance.

Probably the best course for you. Would be Heaton park muni. A good course, with a Travel lodge more or less down the road from it. About 10 mins from bury driving back towards Manchester. Think it is £20 a round. Normally no need to book as it is pretty quite. Don't know if they rent clubs. But anytime I have been there, there has always been several sets in bags on trolleys. Don't know if for sale or rent though.

P.S. There are loads of courses within 5/15 min's from Bury. Just gave you the muni as you asked for council run ones. pm me if you need any info.

I have played daveyhulme before, it was a nice track. Not sure if they rent clubs, prob about 20 miles from bury... Is that too far?

I think you'll struggle to find somewhere close by that rents clubs, there are no hotel resort type places around Bury.
I would recommend Whitefield and Walmersley though, both good enjoyable courses, close by. Whitefield is parkland, Walmersley moorland.

Definitely Heaton Park. As Dave has said, it has a Premier Inn next to it and is 10 minutes from Bury town centre down the M66. It is also a municipal and you can wear pretty much what you like on the course. As far as I am aware, they rent clubs out but I would ring and see first.

Heres the dilemma now lads... Im not going to get out of work until 5 so wont be able to hire clubs as the clubhouse will be closed by the time i get round. Im looking at a range i guess... Annoying as its going to be light for hours.

Have you checked to make sure the clubhouse is closed? Other than that, I can only suggest Castle Hawk golf club, it's another municipal in Rochdale that will hire you clubs and it's only £7 for a round and a pint after 2pm. There's an 18 hole par3 course and a 9 hole course there, you can play both as many times as you like with the one green fee.
