Like nearly everyone I am loving The Masters, the heralding of the new golf season, unbelievable quality of golf etc etc.

But, due to the climate they have had locally (Snow last month!) this year, the usually immaculate setting looks a little shabby this year.

The pollen in the creeks & streams giving that scummy municiple duck pond look, the catkins (or whatever they're called) all over the fairways, tees & greens.

Doesn't detract from the golf but I bet The Masters committee are seething to see their oil painting of a golf course presented in a less than immaculate state. They normally control everything at Augusta but Mother Nature is obviously not on the payroll this year! ;)

I agree - actually had a little chuckle seeing it look less than perfect! Odds on though that there would've been an army of people out on the course last night after the gates were locked clearing away all those catkins!

they did have a storm whip through the area yesterday with high winds... do you expect someone with a hoover to go around and clean up whilst the game is on?

Personally, i think it looks great :)

I bet it caused a few problems out there yesterday, it was quite funny to see a ball come to rest in a patch of the catkins and when the camera returned to view the next shot there was a little circle of perfect green where the player had removed the debris.

Slugger - the guys with the blowers were out pretty regularly on the greens to clear up the pine straw etc. Augusta being what it is you half expect them to cling film the individual branches on the trees to stop the leaves and things from falling on to their golf course!! :D

I saw two people on one of the greens with hand held hoovers trying to clear all the leaves, etc before a group putted out. I initially wondered whether any rules were broken in doing this but quickly realised it was a major, the eyes of the golfing world are watching - they won't have broken any rules!!!

steve Striker wasn't happy with them did you see the leaf bounce over his ball as he went to put on 18

 Don't they glue them all on the trees at Augusta?

It's a different game when you can only moan about one leaf, we got billions of the little feckers at my track and no ball spotters!

Some of the close-up shots of the 12th made the green look almost ridged! I'm sure its not but it didn't look billiard-table smooth.

Isn't the usual amount of flowers around the 12th I think it was either, but considering they were under snow 4/5 weeks ago, still looks better that probably any other course would.

omg, do you mean they are having to play in real weather conditions?
how absolutely terrible for them.

next dig out the bunkers, add some stones and the odd coke can
