Who (what position) can/needs to, activate Article 50

When I looked at the Lisbon treaty webpage it starts with " Member State which decides to withdraw shall notify the European Council of its intention"

So wondering who in the member state of the UK would be the one this task falls to?

Think Camerons partly doing this to screw up Bojo or Gove. As if they are the person who activates it then they will be forever associated with it, and the person that made the final decision to separate from the EU. And seeing as most independent economic forecasts said Brexit will lead to trouble, and a lot of people vote on the economy, not sure anyone wants that one on their CV.

And I suspect there's a part of him saying to Gove/Bojo' you created this mess partly to screw me up, you sort it out'.

It was kinda my thinking it would be the PM (after an Act of Parliament) and guessing no way Cameron will sign the thing as his legacy nor Theresa May if she gets in as it'll kill any hope of winning the next election

Oh it can. I think many thought his bumbling oaf routine was just an act, me included. That is until this campaign where he really has shown he is a bumbling oaf. Very popular but still bumbling.

To activate article 50 it needs an official notification on behalf of the UK Government. That would normally be given by the Prime Minister.

Cameron offered the referendum and has publicly accepted the result, as such he should now activate Article 50, not try to sidestep it so he's not party or associated to any scheming moves they think they can try and get away with in the months ahead, it's on his watch, press the button :thup:

I must confess I am a bit suspicious of the 40% leave vote in Scotland, I think quite a few of my fellow countrymen may have voted under a false flag.
Perhaps the honour should fall to one of them.

he was silly enough to set a referendum, but he wanted to stay why should he kick off article 50, let the honour be bojo or gove ....let history remember them.
