Definitely. I prefer TM clubs but even if I was using Ping, Mizzy, Callaway etc I'm one of those OCD types that would have to have a matching bag, twel and umbrella. That's just my preference and nothing to do with trying to look like the pros etc. I prefer adidas for my golf shirts as I find they fit me pretty well and don't lose shape or colour and I'm an FJ man for shoes. I prefer Stromberg trousers if I can afford them at the time bacause a) I ile the styles and b) they fit me nicely in the leg

At the end of the day its like any pursuit (fishing etc) where you can decide to spend as little or as much as you want. It's how I choose to spend my cash on brands I know and like
 
With regards to my gear i only use named stuff but my clobber are usually m&s chino's, polo tops from debenhams, though I do have a few Ralph lauren polo tops.


As long as i'm dressed clean and smart then it doesn't matter what make my clobber is for me.
 
My clubs are the best ones for me at a price i'm willing to pay. Couldnt give a stuff about the name on them. My clothes are the cheapest I could find that I felt comfortable in. The swing is what matters to play golf , not how you're dressed or whether your club cost twice as much as someone elses and has a nifty logo on it.

Never have and never will be the slightest bit bothered about what name is written on any product I buy , be it golf or tv or car etc

This is why so many people are in debt up to their eyeballs , they just have to have something bigger or shinier than what theyve already got. Despite what theyve got being perfectly fine. "I want a new car , 3rd foreign holiday , bigger tv , branded jeans , go to expensive restaurant etc" . You do that and then complain that you havnt got enough money to buy vegetables for the kids
 
Yes, I am a brand snob but by default. I want the best quality and this invariably is the more costly brands. I don't ever feel the need to change to the latest version of something for the sake of it though.

That said, there are things I would not buy on principle. Nike for example. I don't like the brand at all and it's connections to TW and Lance Armstrong are also very off-putting.

Generally, I don't like brands that have come into golf to cash in and Nike and Adidas fit the bill here.

If I played golf more often, I would probably buy more Boss stuff. Nice quality and reminds me of Seve!

I think the quality you find with Mizuno and Titleist is hard to beat, I dont think other brands make there stuff as well, I would say Ping too but I dont like the look of Ping equipment.
 
I wouldn’t really categorise someone who wants the best technology or most forgiving equipment, and can afford it, as a snobs. It’s the golfing fashionistas with designer golf clothing that change their golf equipment as if they were new season fashion trends, who are the snobs, and I sure we all know at least one of them.

When someone convinces me that the designer golf shirts will improve my game, then I’m afraid Matalan will lose my custom.

I don’t see too many tour golf professionals with MD or Benross emblazoned on their hats or shirts, as a matter of fact, I can’t recall seeing any. I have a set of irons from both these manufacturers; one is left at my daughter’s house in Jersey, the other I play all the time. Believe me they are great clubs.

Which leads me to the belief that when you pay for your Calloway, Titleist, etc, etc, a good whack of the money you pay goes straight into the tour pro’s pockets and not necessarily into making them a better quality, but certainly better promoted and marketed than the MD or Benross type of equipment,

MD are starting to promote themselves more now and have mentioned that they are due to start sponsoring a couple of players this year.

Can I ask why you have to have a logo in the first place, would you feel "lesser" carrying a bag with no name on it?

clothes-wise, I used to be, but not any more. I wear all sorts. I have shirts by C&B, Greg Norman, Palm Grove, Antigua, Old Navy and trousers from Penguin, IZOD and Tesco. I'll probably be buying more Greg Norman stuff because it's ridiculously cheap on eBay and seems to be good quality.

I tried to find a bag with no name on it when I went back to carrying. The most subtle one I could find was the Nike one I bought with only the 'Swoosh' on it. I really do not want to look like a walking advertising hoarding when on the course.

I have won most of the bags I have had. They seem a popular prize! I have got Titleist and Ping carry bags at the minute and don't have any Titleist and limited Ping.

I wouldn't really care about what bag I had to be honest as long as it was a relatively sensible colour and was comfortable when carried.
 
I like branded gear when it comes to Clubs, balls, bag, trolley ect but NOT clothing. I wear Tesco chino's and some t-shirts but aint bothered about Hugo Boss or all the overpriced Galvin Green sh**.
 
I always seem to play way better with a scuffed up old ball. The minute I get a new pro v1 in my hand it seems to last about 20 minutes. As for bag and clus, both been fished out of a skip, just re-handled. Im off 14 at the moment, so it does make me wonder why I see complete hackers with all the gear on, topping it down the first at my local club. Spend the money on lessons, surely. Or crack.
 
I just love the tick!!! Even tried getting a none Nike driver but the bloody thing came out on top!

Clothing I love nike (obviously), lindeberg, Boss and Galvin. I just feel better in good togs, even if my swing is like an epileptic octopus!!
