Archerfield Fidra

Glad you enjoyed it, did you get your shoes cleaned ?, and what did you think about the half way pies and the locker room ?:smirk:.

Haha no shoe cleaning. I wouldnt put my woest enemy through that experience. Halway pie and sausage roll were class and much needed. I liked the mandatory 10 min wait after 9 so you can take stock before embarking on the back 9.

Played the Fidra today. Absolutely top class!!

Condition of the course is fantastic and such a pleasure to play on. Hit the jackpot with the weather and turned out I brought my best game with me.

Playing off the blues (second hindmost) and shot 5 over for the front 9. Couple of ropey holes on the back 9 probably looking at a mid 80s score overall but with it being matchplay didn't hole everything out so can't put an exact number on it. Took the spoils form both the doubles and singles matches from the round. Hitting irons off most of the tees as they were pretty reachable and striking it lovely. Birdies at the par 4 3rd and the par 5 11th.

The biggest difference between the Fidra and Braid Hills where I regularly play is the greens. Wow, so receptive to approach shots, especially with the recent rainfall yet rolling so true when putting. You can really pick your line and hit confident putts and a few dropped from range, which considering recent putting woes was such a bonus.

Some great views over the the forth coastline.

Hospitality top notch and food was good too. Best golf experience to date and can't wait for hopefully more opportunities to play this quality of course.

I'm impressed that you managed to compare Archerfield with the Braids.....
