one of our features in the April coverdated issue that's on sale from next Thursday (23rd) is an exclusive interview with young European Tour player Danny Denison
Danny is a hot talent and but nearly died in a horrendous car crash on the way to a tournament a few years ago... you can find out a bit more his story in this preview video here

Mike, maybe you can answer. I subscribed on the special half price offer day. The email said that I would start receiving it from the March edition, so when will I get my first copy in the post please???

Hi Chris
From memory when the subs department say 'March' they mean the issue that is on sale in March - ie April coverdated on sale from Feb 23 to March 21 so if that's right then you should get your first issue at the weekend/Monday as that's when issues should land with subscribers
It can take up to six weeks for a subscription to activate what with on sale dates....anyway if you dont get owt by next Wednesday email me direct and I'll send you a copy FOC

Hi Heidi (that'd be harder to say than type especially after a couple of G&Ts..anyway I digress)

we have covered the magazine industry's weirdness of on sale dates/real months a few times but not since you joined the happy band of forumers... so here is what i posted last time the query was raised.....

"Hi all ref coverdates I have posted a few times on this in the past but in a nutshell...

The practice of putting a forward date on the cover of a magazine (ie May wen the issue is on sale in April or even the last week or March) is one that is standard right across the industry - from fashion magazines to angling magazines and everything in between.

I believe it was originally introduced by publishers so magazines did not seem out of date but whatever the original reason it has stuck it has certainly been this way since I started as a journalist over a 20 years ago.

This has been further skewed by the fact that as of 2010 we now publish 13 times a year which means there is a new mag every 4 weeks and in soem issues we are on sale two months before the coverdate - like now May being on sale from March 24

We do however need to keep a 'month' on the cover for the newstrade accounting with the exception of our 13th issue which last year was titled 'ryder cup' and this year will be 'centenray'

To bypass any confusion I always advise readers who query the format not to go by which month is written on the cover but instead by which Tour player is on the cover, so the issue out at the moment is the 'Tiger' issue. The month before was the 'Kaymer' issue and the June coverdated magazine that if you are a subscriber will land on your door step on or around April 16 (and goes on sale at newsagents on April 21) will be the McDowell issue

Clear as mud? Thought so!"
 
Mike - I hope your copywriter gets his/her paws on your raw text before the mag hits the printer ;)
anyway, I may not buy the April edition, as my rants are unlikely to have made the April edition. I might need to wait til May to find out if the case for 'fat blokes in the mag' reaches the forum page! I've never seen my name in print. Well, actually, I still won't as its not my real name - but you know what i mean

For the magazine....I have two of them on hand!
For the forum.... my view is a reply and a prompt one is better than a slow word perfect one or nothing at all

Almost a week later, i am still waiting for a webbie from another forum to get back to me - despite a 48 hour turn around on replies...

Nice video Mike , he seems a nice aproachable lad (kinda reminds me of me , oh wait he can play golf , scrap that :rofl: ) I guess he will apreciate the tour card & how lucky he is to be geting a second chance of life & golf .. be good to see how he goes

Sorry on an aside note did young Sam Hutsby get his card back ? will he be linked with the mag?
