I seem to remember around 10 years ago a headine "Super Cally Go Ballistic celtic Are Atrocious"

Well, who says lightning doesn't strike twice ;)

How can a town of only 5000 people take 7000 to a semi final ?

How can an outfit like that beat one of the big boys ?

Could it be that they wanted it more ?

Lost me? Are we talking minority northern sport? From the numbers it looks like it. Is this whippety ferret down trousers sport?

This'll go down in Scottish football history like the time the " wee " Rangers ( Berwick ) beat Glasgow Rangers back in the 60's.

I suppose the difference then was that Glasgow Rangers were a very good team.

Celtic aint.

Ross County for the cup !!!

The caretaker manager at Celtic has had a real go at his players after the match saying they dive too much, don't want to put themselves in where it hurts, don't want it enough and suggested that a few won't be at the club next season. I think there is a lot of work to be done to make them a force again

Not really a football fan as I think it is full of overpaid premadonnas, but I did watch it. A fantastic game of David and Goliath proportions with the underdog doing good. Very strange that it never warranted a mention on the BBC News last night though. :D

Much of the blame for the sorry state of my team lies with Mogga however the catalyst was that Wee ginger *** Strachan who spent more than any other Celtic manager ever and turned a good team into a dreadful one,he bought determined cloggers with little ability and Mowbray carried it on filling his team full of passoinless twats with decent engines and a wee tad ofability....the team is a shambles.Dumped by County and 13 points behind the worst hun team in history says it all really.

Alan, O'neil spent s**t loads more than Strachan and I haonestly beleive he was held in high regard because of his Irish backround. Strachan was more successful without the likes of a Larrson or Moravcek at his disposal.

Celtic are guff because managers and players alike have realised that they don't need tha hasstle of being victims of religious bigotry and verbal abuse (sometimes from their own fans) just for doing a JOB.

Andy,I cannot believe I have actually read that shite you have just posted there my man.....The Huns players/Gaffers must wear ear plugs then eh,and to a lesser extent the diet huns, well, hibs etc?

Have a word with yourself.

Al, I wasn't only refering to Celtic and I omited the two tons as well but Martin O'neil would NEVER consider coming back because he and any other high profile manager dont need the hastle. The Old Firm are in the same boat because of the bitter and twisted mentality of most of their fan base.

we will find it hard to get a decent manager due to the falling reputation of scottish football. it is par-ring with the league of ireland in my opinion.
even now f you win the title you don't have an automatic route into the champions league
Alan it is on record that Paul Lambart didn't want the Celtic job because he didn't want the hassel of being an old firm manager. he had a visit to Glasgow recently and got nothing but abuse.

Aberdeen are about to sack another manager, in my opinion, due to ONE thing - the fans expections being too high.
Rangers/Celtic fans are no different. They think we are living in a time of plenty when in reality we are living in a time of dire financial straits.
Income much reduced, players reflect this but the stupid supporters think that their club should be able to match Man Utd/Chelsea, just because they once could but that is in the mists of time.
Accept the situation, the Ross County/Caley results are to be applauded, no prima donnas, just honest players playing for the shirt and not looking for easy money and contrast that with the current OF situation.

Think Ross County draw their fans from a very wide geographic area - 4 from Wick, 13 from Thurso, 7 from Alness, 22 from Bonar Bridge etc etc ;) :p.

Scottish premier league isn't much higher standard than first division these days.

Don't think Ross wanted it more, Celtic are just really poor this year. Ross C got physical and closed down well, knocked Celtic off their stride, if you do that you'll have a chance against a better team.

I wonder if your point regarding the support from the outflung areas in the North, is lost on our English readers.
It is comparable to Newcastle taking one million to a match and saying yes, but they took 100 from Manchester, 50 from Birmingham and 50 from Leeds! The Saturday support was greater than the population of Dingwall and nearly all the far flung surrounding districts. Well done to them all.

The other point to ponder regarding the support is that many buses would have come down from that area on the day -TO SUPPORT CELTIC!

To highlight the narrowing of the gap between the Premier League and Div One, Raith Rovers held Aberdeen at home and beat them at Pittodrie, County held Hibs at Easter Road and beat them up at Dingwall. The point being if Hibs had taken the honours on Saturday it would not have been headlines, but a team that had the above record over Hibs were deemed to have no chance.

I wish I was as wise without hindsight!

The problems of Rangers and Celtic have been coming for years and will only get worse.

The dwindling interest and therefore market value of Scottish Football means that they cannot compete financially with any of the major leagues in Europe and some of the more minor ones too.

Their having lost a place in the Champions League to Belgium will only make this worse. The reduced financial power and access to the top European competition will only make it even harded to attract decent players.

And it is a downward spiral from there. Lack of European exposure and success will only reduce their overseas fan base as the years go by.

It is highly unlikely that the Premier League clubs will ever vote to include Rangers and Celtic and those chances will dimish even further.

It is going to take a miracle for these clubs to regain their places at the top table. I think the current poor form is symptomatic of Celtic (the club, the board, the fans and the players) having to come to terms with the reality of their place in the scheme of things.

'It is highly unlikely that the PREMIER League clubs will ever vote to include Rangers and Celtic and those chances will dimish even further'

Ross County have as much chance, at this time, as the Old Firm have of getting into the Premiership.

Maybe a transfer into the Conference for the OF could be on and most of us would be happy.

Why, what has the Conference done to deserve them?

Can you imagine the dreaming spires of Oxford or Cambridge being rocked by the bellicose bellowing of an OF horde?

The local polis get overexcited by a Stevenage/Luton derby - what they would do at the prospect of coping with that lot, g only knows.

Scottish football is at last returning to a level playing field and the big two don't like it.... stuff them and stuff their ignorant, arrogant, self righteous fans

It may affect the crowds of the OF, but if any of the other teams compete with them throughout a season (and this is going to happen more and more) then crowds at the other teams will go up and they'll have more money to spend on better players...

The downfall of the Glasgow massive is a good thing for Scottish football. It'll take time, but in the long run, it'll be worth it.

Ross County Supporters Trust have set up a help line for Celtic fans following their win over Celtic last Saturday.

Just phone 0800 10 10 10
That is 0800 won nothing - won nothing - won nothing!
