Anyone played Hinksey Heights in Oxford?

I needed to play a game of golf next month in the Oxford area and decided to play Hinksey Heights as much because they had the tee time i needed and it was quite cheap.

Anyone here played the course? Any comments or advice?

I remember when it was growing from almost nothing to a half decent P & P. I drove past it twice a day, twice a week.
i.i.r.c. there is a good range (I used it) and I'd imagine the "older" of the two 18 holers is probably pretty good these days. Hardly creme de la creme stuff but unless it's over £20, I can't see you'd go wrong.

I play Hinksey Heights every Friday in a 4 ball.The first three holes are fairly undulating and will probably knacker you out if you're carrying too much weight like I am!

You won't forget the 3rd hole at Hinksey in a hurry, if you get down in 4 on that baby you will have done extremely well. Once you've climbed up to the 4th Tee the course flattens out and is rather ordinary.Not many trees and if you're being kind this gives the course a links feel, if you're feeling unkind it gives a Cow field feel!

Great views of the Dreaming spires of Oxford from the 3rd 9th and 18th Tees.

Some of the fairways are a bit ropey, greens are OK but a few are quite small and take some skill to get on and stay on.

Thanks for the replys. I am pleased it is an OK course. Doesnt need to be great just OK for a "grudge" match between me and an old friend from London way. Looking forward to the 4th

I was going to post the same thing on here actually, as I am about to become a member there and was wondering what people thought of the course.

Speaking to a friend who is already a member, I understand that the drainage isn't great up there, so if you're unlucky and play there after a couple of rain days, you may find it a bit damp in patches.

I'd be interested in your opinion after you've played the course.
