I'm playing tommorow at the players club (unsure which of the two courses yet) and wondered if anyone else has played there, and what they thought of it?
I have been a member there for about 16 months. The Codrington is a good challenge with water featuring on a number of holes. It's fairly long, but not overly long IMO. I played yesterday & the greens are running true, but they are not as quick as they can be. I think there is a good mix of holes.
The Stranahan is a fairly new addition & is much shorter & easier. It's not a bad little course, but nowhere near as good as The Codrington.
Some people feel it's a bit too corporate, but I haven't found that. There are good practice facilties & you also have the 9 hole water garden par 3 course.
I'm hoping to play the codrington and am glad to hear that the greens are'nt running 'too' fast! But the stranahan still looks a good little links-style course, and its costing me nothing so i can't complain either way!
The par 3 water course is a must play when you're there. Fantastic little addition to be able to offer.
As for the course, it's a decent enough place on the whole. The front nine less memorable than the back, 6-9 are pretty dull. A stretch of decent holes on the back then finish with 2 forgettable holes to close.
I sort of agree with you Robobum, but I actually think 6 & 8 are good holes. I also like 18. Agree with you about 7,9 & 17 although I think they are good birdie opportunities that give you a bit of a break from the more challenging holes.
Played there on Friday 1.6 - Codrington course in good condition. I thought it was a good challenge and really enjoyed the layout. Golf purists may say it is a little "manufactured" but I wouldnt! Thought it was excellent. May be a little wetter after this weekend. If I had a criticism it would be that some of the bunkers were a little scruffy around the edges but I think they had been deliberately left to grow!
